I have only just realised (after x years) that it is possible to clean the covers of the extrator hood over my hob. I know, I know, but, now that I have done it and the fan works again I am so excited. All those dishes I’ve been avoiding because it makes too much pong - slowly sauteed onions, fish! I haven’t cooked fish since I moved in. And at the moment I’m braising savoy cabbage with smoked bacon, chilli and onions. Can’t hear a thing mind, but the flat smells like a country meadow….

I’m on the 3rd floor and have never looked at my outside wall, so I’ve no idea!
My sitting room and kitchen are in the same room with the kitchen area all along one wall (not so unusual here in Edinburgh). I hate wall cupboards and straight lines, want to rejig so that the kitchen area is in one corner. But as I said I have no budget, so I take out my revenge on it’s faults by not cleaning it often enough. 'Nuff said! -

Hahahaha, thank you bluesofty :-)
Well, if there were a flap, the extractor is ducted out, if there isn’t, all the hot air will be kept in the room, but with the grease removed. I am guessing it must be ducted otherwise it would get pretty hot in your room! Worth checking cos it would make loads of difference if it wasn’t!I prefer corner kitchen to straight lines. One walks like a crab up and down the room instead of just turning on the spot. I wish I could see it, maybe it would just need a little bit of rearranging rather thhan major surgery :-)
I have a plane to paint my kitchen cabinets a funky colour soon. I hate the pine. Luckily the doors are square patterned. I fancy cerise! :-)

A drill would be less scary than leaning out the window! I am going to do a little tiny bit of rearranging, but my ideal solution will involve re-siting sinks, tiles etc etc. One day I’ll get it done and be sure to take before and after photos. But I am one of the world’s finest procrastinators (and would rather have a holiday than a re-sited sink).
Cerise, sounds like an excellent choice.
