InVito - Klaipeda
Gintaro 9, 92241 Klaipeda
08-09-2010
Ok don't give me that look :) I didn't need their help, but a friend of mine really had a problem with his head. Anyway he asked me to find a psychiatrist or a psychologist to help him while coping with a loss of 50.000$ in betting at the race track. Anyway I've searched the net and found few places in Klaipeda. The first 2 were a bit weird, don't know but I didn't like them, so after 2 hour walking around with my friend we finally went to this one, called InVito. Well the first impression wasn't great, thought it was just the same place as the first two. But after waiting for my friend for about an hour and seeing him with a smiling face again was worth it and really changed my opinion about this place. He said he had the first session with a psychologist and he said he didn't need any serious therapy, just few more sessions. That was kinda surprise for me. Most of the places like this would suck the guy dry for all his money. But here it was an honest desicion from the doc. Anyway my friend is fine now. Thanks to InVito guys!
HBH pas Juoza - Kretinga
Zibininkai, LT-97230 Kretinga
29-06-2009
One of those places places that make you want to come back every year/month. As for me I’ve been there only 3-5 times. But each time I saw some innovation there. Lastly they opened a pizza restaurant (too bad I don’t go there anymore). HBH is a brand name of Juozas - it’s creator. Together with his wife, from a small bar they managed to grow to a large entertainment complex. During summer time this place is crowded. The food portions are enormous, considering the price. Though lately they decreased the size of the meals, but still it’s one of the best portion/price ratio. They have sauna, paintball (or as I like to call it painball), horse riding, basketball, chicken farm :D No, seriously they even have their own petting zoo with lots of different bird species. If you ever come to Kretinga or Klaipeda, or Palanga, don’t hesitate and come to this place, even once, it’s worth if.
Khan El Khalili - Cairo
Cairo
29-06-2009
I’ve been to Egypt some time ago (2 years I think from now). As a part of our tour program there was this Khan El Khalili bazaar. The marketplace is the biggest I’ve ever seen, I think it’s the biggest in the world. When we entered the bazaar the journey began. Every trader wants to grab your attention. Goods everywhere. Funny thing happened. I was looking for a salamander necklace for my sister. I couldn’t find it anywhere. I was disappointed when one of the traders (is this the right term I’m using? >.>) suggested we visit his friend that might have one. Then he lured us into some forsaken part of the market to his friend. We got surrounded by other traders. I thought we’d gonna be robbed. Was a bit scary. But we just watched the goods and said we weren’t interested in anything. The story proved “don’t believe anything they say”. Anyway I was really impressed with this place. Well maybe because Cairo is the largest city in Africa. As the sign said - “land of civilization”.
Alia Palace Hotel - Kassandra
Pefkohori Village, Halkidiki, Kassandra
29-06-2009
I loved this hotel as well. The first impression when I entered the balcony and saw the bay and the other “finger” of the Halkidiki was truly amazing. The food was delicious, though the fruit were kinda green. On Wednesdays they make an outside dinner night. For the first time in my life I’ve tasted grilled king shrimps :) That was really something. The rooms are really spacious, but the pillows… arggg… they were as hard as rocks. And the hill walk is kinda tiring. The first time we walked up the hill to our rooms was OK, but later it was awful. The pool was cool and spacious. There were birds that flew to us to the pool sometimes. That was pretty nice too. The minibus was a savior for driving to the beach. The personnel was as polite as beautiful (many young people). Despite all the bad things I wrote about this hotel, it’s really awesome.
The Hill of Crosses - Siauliai
Siauliai
29-06-2009
There’s no address for this place, I can just advice you to consult the map. The Hill of Crosses is probably the most impressive place in whole Lithuania. I’ve been there on a field trip with my class. Back then the place had tens of thousands of crosses. Now it’s probably even more. Despite that the place has been burned few times, the number of crosses there keeps growing. The place is truly saint. Surrounded by the crosses every christian can feel their power, the majesty of this place.
Wasserburg Trakai / Trakų salos pilis - Senieji Trakai
21001 Senieji Trakai
29-06-2009
Not sure why someone called it Wasserburg, but if it’s the castle of Trakai then I’m in the right place. Though I’ve been there long time ago, but this place left me some nice memories. The day I’ve been on a field trip with my classmates to this castle was half sunny, half rainy. The castle amazed me by it’s good look. Probably it lived through few restorations, but still it’s ancient spirit hasn’t been touched. The only entrance leads you the inner yard of the castle, surrounded by walls and 3 towers. Then through the inner yard you can enter the main building, which is outside the walls. That makes the castle a bit defenseless? Well maybe they had more walls at those times. :) Anyway, the castle is really beautiful with it’s own charm. If you ever visit Lithuania this place is a must to visit.
Laikrastis - Klaipeda
Manto str. 4, Klaipeda
29-06-2009
Laikrastis (“The newspaper”), whatever was on the mind of the one who named this place… OK I’ve been there only once :) My ex-boss took us on a day trip there on company’s expense. We’ve ordered turkey meat with raspberry. It was chef’s favorite, so we’ve thought it was a good idea to choose this dish. The meat was tender and perfectly cooked. The sour-sweet raspberry sauce was outstanding. I’ve never tasted anything so delicious. Therefore I give the bar 5 stars. Besides it’s situated in a nice place (the one I’ve been too, as there are 2 bars).
Jorkas - Klaipeda
M. Mazvydo a. 3, H. Manto str. 10, Klaipeda
29-06-2009
Jorkas aka York in English is a restaurant in the center of Klaipeda town. The reason I made a review for this place is simple - it’s just downstairs from my work place, so I visit the bar/restaurant sometimes. The interior takes you back to the 80-ies (I hope it’s the right year). The restaurant itself is in the basement, which makes it a bit cooler inside during summer days. The food served there is delicious (tried various dishes there, can’t write them all here, but all of them were really tasty). The only reason I gave it a 4 stars is that sometimes during dinner time they make this “dinner of the day” dishes, so if you want to order something else you’d have to wait longer than usual. All in all this is a fine place with good atmosphere and tasty dishes.
Pietu taskas - Klaipeda
Taikos a. 24, Klaipeda
23-06-2009
“Pietu taskas” could be translated either as “South spot” or “Dinner spot”, the word “pietus” has dual meaning. Anyway, first thing I ordered there was a mushroom pizza with a beer (don’t give me that look I’m a pizza lover :), I order mushroom pizza everywhere I can). The pizza was the best one I’ve ever tasted. Really it was superb. I even thought they put some drugs in it, because I was thinking of returning there all day long. Nevertheless the bear I ordered was clearly mixed with water. That stuff gave my stomach some bad experience. The place itself is nice, but they could tidy up a bit. The 3 star would be for good pizza, good atmosphere and an awful beer.
Mambo pizza - Klaipeda
Taikos a. 61, Akropolis trade center 1 floor, Klaipeda
23-06-2009
As Akropolis trade center contains lots of shops and restaurants, this is one more review about a pizza restaurant there. This one is about Mambo pizza, a place where you shouldn’t go when it’s overcrowded. Some weekend my grandmother, cousin and I went for a meal to the Mambo place. The restaurant was full of people, but we managed to find a free seat, ordered all 3 pizzas and started waiting. The pizzas came after 30 minutes. I’d say it was pretty fast, considering the crowd. The only thing that astonished me - I didn’t get my pizza :) OK I said, probably the waitress couldn’t handle all 3 in her 2 arms. 10 minutes passed… I tried to speak to the waitress, she apologized that the cook couldn’t handle the upload. Anyway I’ve waited 30 minutes for my pizza to arrive, which makes it 1h from the start. Of course the pizza came to me cold and overcooked. Nevertheless the other time I’ve been there (before that time), the pizza was perfect. That’s why I’ll resume that this place is great to eat at if not overcrowded.
