I have been outside this restaurant on many occasions and did not even notice it, I presumed it was a cafe of some sort. I have a friend visiting who recalled the good food and we decided to try it out on a Sunday evening. Unfortunately, so did a couple with a child of approximately 3 or 4, the little fellow must have been way over his bedtime as he cried and screamed the entire time we were there and the parents did nothing more than ignore him.
The menu had several fish specials that were fresh and uniquely prepared. I chose the prawn pasta which as absolutely lovely and my friend chose a Sardinian dish which she enjoyed.
My one gripe is that the prawns are not shelled, in fact the feelers had not even been removed and being the same colour as the tomato based sauce, I kept getting these in my mouth and having to remove them, not very dignified I promise. My 2nd gripe was a lack of a finger bowl or anything to wipe the hands on, apart from the one serviette with the table setting. So you are having to shell the prawns to eat them and … I presume lick you fingers clean ! I did ask and by the time I had finished my meal ( about 20 minutes later) was given a small ramekin with water in. Not ideal.
So whilst the food was most enjoyable for the most, the experience left a lot to be desired and I doubt I shall be returning soon.
Sausage Man - Lewisham

I'll just have to review the Sausage Man as well, as I bought a pack of 10 marinated steaks from him just yesterday. Always fresh, always delicious and extremely friendly service. I have been buying there for many years and never once been disappointed. Expect to pay a few pence more, but certainly worth every penny.

Andrew, have you ever wandered past Llandudno Beach to Sandy Bay ? That used to be my favourite beach as it was ever so quiet and not visited by the tourists who found the walk a bit tiring.
Andrew Hunter Ha ha. Ok, i’ll take that as a yes :)
Right - Well next time i’m in SA it’s down to Sandy Bay for the all body tan!

Anita_S The beach itself is very small due it being a rocky area, but therein lies the beauty as there are many secluded areas where you can spend all day without seeing anyone unless you actually want to. It is only really frequented by locals and as such very natural … or should that be ‘au naturelle’ :-)

Absolute Maintenance - Cidade do Cabo

I thoroughly enjoyed the Shakespeare plays they have been holding in this supermarket. I thought I would pay a visit after reading about Supermarket Shakespeare in the Qype newsletter. What a way to shop and it is a lovely supermarket to shop in.
Rivoli Ballroom - Brockley

The Rivoli is used every Friday night for the filming of Justin Lee Collins' Good Times show. It might give people an idea of the lovely old decor if you watch the show.
Sanjit Chudha It was also used as the location for Kate Bush's 'King of the Mountain' video . . . . it's a fantastic place and a real insight into the gloriously decorated world of the 40s and 50s.

I have kept rather quiet about this restaurant, albeit a little selfish :-) But feel it needs a review here as I am sure the members will agree with me on all points.
We had what was one of the most satisfying meals I have ever had in London. The service is by far the best I've ever had in London, attentive and polite. The decor is unusual (think airport diner), very art deco and not too over styled. The food was fabulous we both had seafood dishes and it was perfection and tasty. Before the meal they brought a basket with freshly baked breads and fruity olive oils, don't overdo the breads though, save some space for the delightful meal. I also have to recommend the desserts, light and heaveny, not oversweet.
I arrived at the restaurant early, was escorted and seated at our table and a glass of delightful champagne appeared to keep me company whilst waiting.
Do book though or be prepared to queue, some say they have a 2 hour table limit, but I have never found that was the case.

Monkey Valley, what wonderful memories that brings back. Where else can you sit in the bath with uninterrupted views of a beautiful beach and blue ocean or of course the milkwood forest ? Each unit of Monkey Valley in totally secluded and you can feel as if you are on your own little island. The restaurant has the freshest seafood you can imagine and superbly prepared. Wonderful !!!!!!
elliott_castro I was Actually going to review it as its own deal, rather than nordhoek beach…but im thinking qype’s going to have issues locating it

Sapori in Covent Garden - Covent Garden

Some would know how difficult it is to get a booking for a large group of diners late night on a Saturday, so when I phoned and enquired if they would be prepared to take a booking for 22 people for 10.30pm on a Saturday night and was met by 'Why certainly signorina, let me just check if we have space' was a joy already.
Our party was met at the door and led downstairs to a large cosy basement dining area. Our waitresses were all directly from Sardinia, friendly, helpful and really on the ball even though they stood only about 4' tall.
We found favourites like lasagne, bolognese, spaghetti, meatballs and grilled vegetables marinated in olive oil, as well as a range of pizza, the dishes are inspired by typically Sardinian flavours, rich and tasty. The seafood surprise was apparently superb and I was sorry I could not manage to eat all my pasta. Everyone was impressed with the service and food and one of my guests has since taken his staff there for a lunch.
Overall, a great place to grab an authentic Italian meal. Great value as well, food and wine came to £16.00 per person, with a few starters and a few desserts and a few bottles of wine. Well worth a visit! Grazie per un'estremità bella alla nostra sera
Locale - Blackheath

Locale Italian restaurant in Blackheath has deep crimson walls, chandeliers, mirrors, dark wood chairs and tables, couches and walls are hung with many black and white pictures. It has a lounge bar that serve superb cocktails, and they bake all their bread and make their pasta fresh every day using Italian flour and eggs for the real Tuscan taste which is their speciality.
Against all advice we went without making reservations and were offered a table that was reserved 90 minutes later which we happily accepted. The service was a bit slow even though we were meant to hurry, but then the restaurant was packed (no excuse I know). The food was excellent but we had to keep reminding them of extra bits we had ordered, and also our drinks had to be ordered 3 times. We were not offered desserts as the 90 minutes were drawing to a close, and our bill was brought to us with a good 30 minutes in hand.
So despite the locals raving about Locale, our experience was not the best. I shall give it another try in the future, but after the first experience it will take a while before I venture in their doors again.
