Moment Expresso - Hampstead

248 West End Lane, London NW6 1LG

05-06-2010

A decent indie coffee house if on the pricey side e.g. a piece of chocolate cake with some ice cream was £4.25, while it was delicious it felt a bit dear for my tastes.

Definitely a good substitute for the Starbucks and chain coffee branches if you want to experience something more authentic.

The Alice House - Hampstead

283-285 West End Lane, West Hampstead, London NW6 1RD

07-03-2010

Went to this pub for a meetup, nice interior has a upmarket yet indie feel to it. The staff were helpful and polite and the food was great and good selection of cocktails.

Prices can be a bit steep for some people.

alissandra this place has always looked like a bit of a 20 something cattle market to me!

Pret a Manger - Mayfair

163 Piccadilly, Mayfair, London W1J 9ED

13-01-2009

Pret, has some of the best sandwiches out of all the chain sandwich shops. This is because they use decent and high quality food in their sandwiches and are made on premises, meaning they are fresh.

They also do good soup and coffee to go with your sandwich.
Though Pret can be a bit of the dear side in terms of pricing, it is pretty much worth it, as you know you are getting quality.

Sam's Chicken - Kenton

Wembley, London HA9 9JS

27-11-2008

I remember going to this place when I went to PMHS and going here sometimes during lunch. A burger and chips would cost £2 which was good value compared to McDonalds.

The shop was clean unlike most of these chicken shops.

The Slug And Lettuce - Soho

80-82 Wardour Street, Soho, London W1F 0TG

20-11-2008

Found this to be a pleasant yet quite dear place to drink.
The pub looks nice and you usually see workers from the city here at lunch on weekdays, which gives it kind of a yuppie feel at times, which ain’t necessarily bad.
The food here is also good, had the thai chicken curry, absolutely delicious.

Browns Restaurants - Cambridge

23 Trumpington Street, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire CB2 1QA

19-11-2008

Browns, is the great place to go in Cambridge for an occasional treat.
The food and service is great, they have a good range for elegant meals to choose from. You can choose from a selection of wines and there is also a bar in there was well.

Mind though, that it can be pricey, meals usually cost £10+, so maybe its good for an special occasion: Birthday, Graduation etc…

Computer Exchange - Westminster

70 Tottenham Court Road, London SW1P 3JX

18-11-2008

There are 2 CEX stores in Central London, The Rathbone one and the TCR one (Im reviewing the latter).

The TCR store focuses more on Mobiles, MP3 Players and computers than games and DVDs but still has a large range of them and many DVDs start from only 50p!

The staff are helpful, but may seem geekish to those that are just casual shoppers.

The Six Bells - Cambridge

11 Covent Gdn, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire CB1 2HS

18-11-2008

Good pub, local and traditional yet has some modernness to it with having a pool table and free wireless internet.

There’s an outside area as well for people to smoke. They mostly have ales, but have some lager as well like Becks Vier, Stella, Fosters etc…

Fopp - Covent Garden

1 Earlham Street, Leicester Square, London WC2H 9LL

17-11-2008

Despite most of the FOPP shops been closed down, there are still a few left (Leicester Square, Cambridge)

Anyway the value is good you can buy CDs and DVDs from £3 and they have a decent range. They also have books and comics as well which too can start from cheap.

The Five & Lime - Guildford

3 Leapale Road, Guildford, Surrey GU1 4JX

16-11-2008

I went into this bar in Guildford on a day out and was glad I did.

Feels trendy yet not too manufactured like JD Wetherspoons pubs. The prices are decent and the range of drinks is good for those days you want to try something different.
