Fontana di Trevi - Roma
Piazza di Trevi 9, 00187 Roma
19-01-2009
The Trevi Fountain is probably one of the most tourist hot spots in Rome but despite being full of tourists from all over the world, it’s still a beautiful place. When I went there it was late in the afternoon and so not as busy as it probably is during the day. Got some lovely photos there and the light was very good as dusk drew in.
If you go to Rome you have to visit this fountain as it will be one of the highlights of your trip! I very much hope I can return one day soon and be back in Rome again - I loved it!!
Bellesuite Rome - Roma
Via Modena 5, 00184 Roma
19-01-2009
Visited this hotel during a weekend break to Rome in January 2008. This is a great little hotel and although couldnt find it when we first arrived, its in a great location close to a metro station and only one or two stops from the main train station. Found the staff really helpful and they really improved our stay here so I would be more then willing to recommend this as a place to stay. Just hope I can afford to go back there someday soon… :)
The Rose & Crown - Wimbledon
55 High Street Wimbledon, Wimbledon, London SW19 5BA
19-01-2009
I went to have a drink here on Friday night around 5pm as was looking for venues in Wimbledon for a birthday and drinks at the end of the month and was considering this place. I thought it was a very nice Youngs pub and had a nice atmosphere so I definitely plan to go back there for some more drinks another night. Although be warned that they charge £1 for a dash of coke so when drinking spirits it might be cheaper to buy a bottle of coke.
Also as mentioned by katajenka the pub also has a hotel for those that might want to stay in the area.
Hand In Hand - Wimbledon
6-11 Crooked Billet, London SW19 4RQ

This is a great traditional pub which has lots of atmosphere. In these times of chain pubs being very boring and not having any atmosphere, its nice to see that this Youngs pub chain pub still has a bit of a village pub feel about it. Its only about 5 minutes walk from Wimbledon High street so although its a bit out of the way, its definitely worth the effort in my opinion. I didn’t try the food while I was there as only stopped in for a drink but it the menu looked very good so will defo be going back there for food some other time.
The Entertainer Toy Shop - Wimbledon
29 The Broadway, London SW19 1PS
25-11-2008
I think this is a great little toy shop. Ok, so I am a big kid who loves Christmas but I still think this shop is a great shop to look around in especially at this time of year. Although it’s not massive, it’s still a very good place to perhaps get some ideas of what the little ones in your life might want from Crimbo. And if you find it in there, chances are they will have it in stock as I’ve never walked in there and seen any empty shelves.
So if you are in Wimbledon doing some Christmas shopping be sure to pop into this store for some more ideas… :)
Halifax - Kensington
180-182 Kensington High Street, Kensington, London W8 7RR

I have been very impressed with Halifax and this branch in particular. The branch is well laid out with cashiers (and cash points) on the right as you walk in and two welcome desks on the left. All the staff I have dealt with has been very friendly and always helpful. On matters that the staff couldn’t help me with straight away (such as the opening of savings account) I was made an appointment to come back another day at a time that suited me.
It was nice to see a bank that still seemed to care about its customers and give them the best deals possible. Obviously I don’t simply rely on their advice as at the end of the day they are a business and want you to buy their products. But when I have decided that their product is the best on the market through my own research, then I come to them and have not been disappointed with their customer service thus far.
Groovehound "On matters that the staff couldn’t help me with straight away (such as the opening of savings account) I was made an appointment to come back another day at a time that suited me."
That's a FAIL by them then, to have enough staff, or what was it? They couldn't help you, so you imply it wasn't due to having no documents on you or whatever. If it was staffing levels/systems failure, that can't be 5/5 service, and there's such thing as being too positive in the face of lack of initiative from staff, but only you know the details. I see this all the time.

Abbey - Kensington
142-144 Kensington High Street, Kensington, London W8 7RL

This is perhaps the worst bank I have ever had the misfortune to deal with and this must be their worst branch too! It all started when I tried to apply for a credit card from there earlier this year. You would think this would be a simple process but not for the staff here. There was no one at the 'Welcome Desk’ (a situation I soon found out occurred frequently) so I approached staff at the cashiers. After some wait they produced a very badly photocopied credit application that I could hardly read. After much guess work I filled out the form and gave them my 2 forms of ID. They said they only needed one so just photocopied my drivers licence. To cut a long story short it took a further 3 months and a further 2 application forms before I finally got a credit card with the reasons of delay being a incorrectly filled out application form (what did they expect when I couldn’t read the questions it asked), only one form of ID being provided and a lack of staff at the branch.
In conclusion I would advise anyone from using this branch or Abbey bank at all to be honest. They clearly have staffing issues here as whenever I pass the branch the only staff I see are the cashiers along with a massive queue of customers waiting to see them. Not what I expect from one of the big banks on the High Street.
PC World - Colliers Wood
Christchurch Road, Merton, London SW19 2PP
23-11-2008
Located next to Sainsbury’s and M&S, this PC world store is also quite large but is typical of most PC World stores. As with the other nearby shops parking is not a problem here as it’s all shared. The shop itself does seem to have a lot of staff and is well laid for those wishing to browse. The staff seem to be good too as I was helped when I visited the store for a new surround sound system which I was price matching with online store Amazon. As a result they matched the price of Amazon and also took another 10% off making it great value for money :)
Edward's Bar - Wimbledon
18 Hartfield Road, Merton, London SW19 3TA
23-11-2008
This is a typical chain pub where you find can find cheap drinks and music to dance along to on any given night. The staff are quick to serve and seem to be on the ball as to the order that people arrive to the bar which is always good. The drink offers that are on are normally pretty good and the music is normally decent enough too. It even has a dance floor, albeit it not a massive one, but as chain pubs go its pretty good. Be warned that the bouncers can get strict over the dress code on weekends so guys don’t be turning up in trainers.
Terrace Bar - Wimbledon
601 Centre Court Shopping Centre, Wimbledon, London SW19 8YE
22-11-2008
This bar is located literally next to Wimbledon tube station and is a nice place to go for dinner, a drink or a dance at the end of the night. I’ve been there in all three scenarios and had a good time in each of them. They of course charge to get as the evening progresses but it’s a nice place to go at the end of the night after being at a pub for a few hours and you want to dance the rest of the night away. It gets pretty busy and there is no dance floor but if you find yourself a little area away from the bar then you should be sorted!
