This is an educational salon with students offering beauty treatments to the public for a very small price. All treatments are supervised by a qualified beauty therapist / teacher.
The salon is fairly small but can accomadate up to nine people at any one time and group bookings are available.
The reception area has products on display available to buy and gift vouchers too.
The school often puts on related functions where products are available to try and buy.
The main treatments performed are manicures, facials and nail art and other treatments are offered by the qualifed staff member on request.

For a buffet style chinese restaurant Flaming Dragon is excellent. The choice of dishes is extensive and everything is fresh and hot. The staff are really friendly and the atmosphere is relaxed.
The price for eat as much as you like is around £15. The even have an area where you can choose raw ingredients and then have them prepare it fresh for you.

Afflecks palace makes shopping fun! Based on 3 floors they have a range of shops and boutiques giving local entrepreneurs a chance to sell there ideas.
There is everything from body piercing shops, clothing ranges for fancy dress, vintage styles, clubbing and more.
It really does make shopping enjoyable and if you want something different then this is really the place to go. Also fantastic for gift ideas.

This local pub serves good well priced food and has special evenings dedicated to 'curry' and 'steak' nights where they offer special deals.The pub is very child friendly and spacious.
They have a large screen and show all big football and rugby games and does get busy during these times.
The pub mainly attracts locals and is in a student area but does not attract an abundance of them. Only downside to this pub is that it doesnt have a pool table!
Situated about ten minutes from Derby city centre it is on the main bus route to derby or a short taxi journey if you fancied carrying on an evening.

Venus is a club night at V bar on a saturday night.
It plays funky house music and is very popular yet still small enough to be quite exclusive and not over run.
Prices to get in are between £10 and £12 depending on time of entry.
Dress code applies on this nite so not jeans, trainers and sports wear.
Venus is very dark and there is a chill out room attached so there is opportunity to chat to friends as the dance floor is very noisy.
There are sofas around the edge of the dance floor and there is a tv screen playing cartoons for further entertainment.
Drinks are expensive but you find this in most clubs.
Taxis are always acessible as on the main street in manchester.

This argentinan restaurant offers fantasic steaks, cooked to perfection. The waiter staff will bring you a selction of cuts to your table so you can choose you own steak.

The top steak is priced approx £20

The atmosphere is romantic with low lighting and the seating area is spacious which makes your table private ideal for a romantic meal.

The food is quite expensive but for a special occassion is worth every penny!

Brindsley Lodge is a great place to eat. The decor is basic and quite old fashioned but the food more than makes up for it.

They offer steaks of all sizes and prices. If you go Monday night you can a 8oz steak for just £3.95 which is a bargin. They do a great stilton and pepper sauce to go with.

The service is not consistent and at times my food has taken anywhere between ten minutes and a hour.

You dont need to nook to eat in th ebar area downstairs but they do have a restaurant area upstairs if you want to book a larger party of people.

There is ample parking.

There are chip shops and there are chip shops! The Nook is the one traditional chip shop ran by a local family with ques out the shop and down the street on a regular basis. Be prepared to que! The wait is worth it though as the fish and chips are always excellent. You can get a dandelion and burdock to go with them and for me it's always like a trip down memory lane, as good as i used to have as a kid with my Dad on a friday evening. They are not the fasted at serving you but you will have had a good chat with the owners and locals in their by the time youve left. If you move to this area this is the place to get established!

This local pub has recently had a bit of a make over incorperating an out door decking section to keep the smokers happy!
This is a pub where the locals go after work for a few pints.
they show th emain football matches and at the weekend they have local bands playing. With a small dance area the jolly colliers offers entertainment for the local community.
The pub is run by a local family and has a very friendly atmosphere. The only downside is the parking is very limited so you may have to park a few minutes walk from the pub itself.

Anoki has to be the best Indian restaurant ive ever been to. The staff are all in traditional dress and the decor is modern and sophisticated. On the wall they play indian videos with popular indian music, it looks great.
The food is well priced and worth every penny. I strongly recommend to try their banquet choices as you get a whole mixture of dishes so you can try them all.
Attention to detail in Anoki's is amazing, i especially love their glasses and cutlery!
Ive never had a bad meal and would recommend it everyone who loves indian food.
Parking is not fabulous and your best to park behind the restaurant, just a few minutes walk.
