Terry's Restaurant - Exeter

31b Sidwell Street, Exeter, Devon EX4 6NN

01-12-2011

I’ve visited Terry’s a few times with my kids – it’s OK, however due to the elongated shape of the restaurant they have banned buggies and highchairs throughout most of the room.
They do not take cards or cheques, so you can only pay in cash.
Food is ok in quality – last time I went there we had fish and chips and came out stinking of dirty oil!
Customer service is ok – I’ve had worse.
Alright to go to if you want a standard meal, however don’t expect particularly quick service!

Athena - Exeter

187-189 High Street, Exeter, Devon EX4 3DU

27-02-2010

A lovely art/gift shop on the high street, but downsides are that it is quite small (laid out well though) and quite expensive. There are lots of nice gifts though, with many of them being quite unique. Hundreds of prints to choose from, which they will frame for you if required.

Boots The Chemists - Exeter

Unit 1 The Exebridge Centre, Exeter, Devon EX4 1AH

27-02-2010

I have only just realised that this Boots is in the Exebridge centre - it is open until 11pm most nights, I believe. Somewhat better than the one in town!

It is set out over 1 large floor, including a pharmacy. Aside from the pharmacy tills there are 3 other normal tills I think, which I imagine could get overwhelmed if it was busy.

Each section that you would expect to see is there, and is comprehensively stocked.

Parking is ample and free as it is part of the Exebridge centre.

ASK - Exeter

5 Cathedral Close, Exeter, Devon EX1 1EZ

27-02-2010

I do love ASK, and Exeter's cathedral green setting is quite lovely. The building is an old listed one, giving you lots to look at whilst you eat. They have quite a bit on their menu, but it doesn't vary very often (except when you really like something, then they take it off!).

Good value, in the main, and a nice place to go if you're meeting a group of friends. Staff are friendly and service is efficient.

Oriental Buffet - Exeter

10-12 Palace Gate, Exeter, Devon EX1 1JA

27-02-2010

We love this Chinese buffet! It's hidden away down South Street in Exeter with a small amount of parking out the front (free after 6pm, I think). They have what must be something like 50 dishes, all set out on a long hotplate system. You get your drinks when you sit down (never seem to have to reserve a table, no matter when we turn up) then are free to take a plate and get your food.

The food is good quality and tasty, even my 3 year old likes it and has tried some new stuff like crab! They do a few other bits in the evening like duck, crab etc that they don't do in the day, and this is reflected in the price. It's around £6 for an adult for lunch and £4 for a child, and it's a few pounds more expensive in the evenings/Sundays (all day buffet).

We would all highly recommend it, especially the toffee apple fritters!

Paignton Zoo - Paignton

Totnes Road, Paignton TQ4 7EU

16-01-2009

Paignton “zoological gardens” is a lovely place, with many different animals to visit. They have spent a lot of time creating suitable environments for the animals, and there is a lot of information to take in. I think it is suitable for all ages - we took our 2 year old girl for her birthday! I would definitely recommend a visit, although it’s a little hilly in places so not great taking a buggy everywhere.

They have toilets around the site, and baby change facilities too. There is a large restaurant, with outside seating for warmer days, plus they have a bar.

Office - Exeter

240 High Street, Exeter, Devon EX4 3NZ

26-11-2008

Office, on Exeter high street, has a wide range of shoes, from the normal everyday shoe to something a bit quirky! There are some good prices, but some styles are a bit expensive. Staff are attentive and helpful and will always ask you if you need any help when you first go in. As always, look out for the sales!

tReds - Exeter

Guildhall Shopping Centre, Exeter, Devon EX4 3EH

26-11-2008

If you love shoes the tReds in Exeter’s Guildhall shopping centre is the place to go. They have some lovely boots at the front of the store and they do flats/trainers further back. They also have some mens and children’s shoes. Watch out for the sales as that is when you can get a bargain pair!

The Works - Exeter

Guildhall Shopping Centre, Exeter, Devon EX4 3HP

26-11-2008

If you want cheap books then The Works is the place to go! It is located in the Guildhall shopping centre, and although it is small it is packed with bargains. They also do things like colouring books, pens, pencils, arts/crafts etc and other little stocking filler-type items. Always worth looking in there to spot the bargains!

Somerfield - Exeter

160 Sidwell Street, Exeter, Devon EX4 6RR

26-11-2008

Somerfield is located near the Vue cinema in Exeter, in town. It is a small supermarket, but you can do a full shop there. It is near a couple of car parks, so you can get all your shopping straight to the car, but you can’t park directly outside. They are set out over 2 levels - top level is the newsagent section, and the bottom level is where the main supermarket is. They did have a bargain on the other day of 2 boxes of roses/quality street for £9 which is better than I’ve seen anywhere so far this Christmas!
