Victoria and Albert Museum - South Kensington
Cromwell Road, South Kensington, London SW7 2RL

If you enter the V&A expecting to see everything in the museum in a single afternoon, you will leave exhausted and disappointed in your valiant but misguided effort. This extensive museum has so much to offer that it’s worth splitting your time in the venue across a few visits. Your best bet is to take a look at their website to see what’s on and focus on a few exhibits. The current Fashion and Sport and Supremes exhibits are incredibly visually appealing and should not be missed. Additionally, the current Jewelry exhibit is quite stunning, although don’t expect the boys to be quite as impressed as the girls with the diamond tiaras on display. While it’s all up to individual taste (and the V&A offers plenty to choose from), don’t leave without at least walking though the room of casts which includes exact replicas of important architectural elements from across Europe and is a truly impressive exhibit room.
Snog Frozen Yoghurt - South Kensington
32 Thurloe Place, South Kensington, London SW7 2HQ

A clear spin-off of the incredibly popular (and also overpriced) Pinkberry of LA, this yoghurt shop is exactly what it says on the tin - yoghurt with an assortment of toppings. It is definitely a healthy option compared to that ice cream sundae you were eying but be warned, it is proper frozen yoghurt and has the sour flavour that goes along with it. To many, myself included, this is the real draw of the shop although it does come as a surprise to some who are expecting the frozen sugar water usually sold as “soft serve.” The toppings are varied and the fruit looks fresh - again, for the price they’re a bit chinzy on the portions but then again, six raspberries on your plain yoghurt is exactly what you need as you join the others for some light yoga in the park.
Hyde Park - Mayfair

No denying this is a fabulous park, but I’d like to make a quick note about Hyde Park as a venue for live shows.
There are some problems with this park as a gig venue. For one, for big concerts like the Jack Johnson or Chilli Peppers a “Golden Enclosure” goes up between the main crowd of nearly 20,000 and the actual stage, creating a lawn for VIPs which preventents fans and performers from being able to see each other. The other flaw is city noise control rules which leads to very quiet sound stages – you might think that the people who live around Park Lane could put up with a few days of thudding, but I guess not.
The FymFyg Bar - Bethnal Green
231-237 Cambridge Heath Road, Bethnal Green, London E2 0EL

The Fymfyg Bar (formerly Lee Hurst’s Backyard Comedy Club) has had a makeover and change of programme. From now on there is a new roster of live music on Tuesdays and comedy on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
Lee Hurst has not yet left the building and still hosts a night every Saturday with his favourite comedians.
