I tried Barleys out one morning as I fancied somewhere different to have a coffee and do a little work on my laptop, I also wanted to check the place out to see if it was worth coming back with friends. Unfortunately I don’t think I will be.
It seems to be trying to be all things to all men and not succeeding in any.
When looking around to see where I could sit with my laptop I decided not to sit next to the slot machine & DJ equipment next to the small dancefloor, nor did I want to sit in the dark alcove around the back, the comfy seat area was taken so I was left with the sticky pub tables at the front of the bar.
Having paid for my overpriced cappuccino it arrived in a standard mug and tasted a lot like fairly bland regular coffee. I tried to chat politely to the waitress but she looked a little depressed so that didn’t last long. I had a cooked breakfast, half of which I didn’t eat and decided that next time I’ll go back to Après across the road. -

It’s refreshing to see a modern restaurant thriving outside of the big cities. Good up-to-date food without being pretentious, reasonable prices and a pleasant atmosphere. Good for couples as well as larger groups and the live entertainment is a real plus.
