Kiasu Restaurant - Bayswater

48 Queensway, Paddington, London W2 3RY

22-11-2007

Finally I've found somewhere with good Malaysian and Indonesian food in London! After returning from a short spell in Indonesia a few years ago I have been yearning for a good Nasi Goreng and Kiasu gave it to me and it was damn good.

For those of you who've not tried Malaysian but enjoy Thai, Indian Chinese etc then you must go to Kiasu. I guess you could say that Malaysian cuisine uses similar flavours but has its own distinctness. Go to Kiasu and honestly order anything from the menu and you won't be dissapointed.

Jashan Vegetarian Restaurant - Londres

Coronet Parade Ealing Road, London HA0 4AY

22-11-2007

This restaurant is another one of Ealing Road's great vegetarian eateries that offers a great buffet on weekday lunch times. I love their selection of light bites which includes Kachori, corn fritters and samosa.

The Muffin Man - Kensington

12 Wrights Lane, London W8 6TA

22-11-2007

My friend introduced me to this long established tea room a few years ago when I was hankering after tea and scones and she knew The Muffin Man could help.

So now whenever I'm shopping in High Street Ken I always stop by to eat the delicious hot scones with jam and clotted cream and I wash it down with a spot of tea. It's a little pricey but I can't resist.

thisisi wats the price???

Plaisir Du Chocolat - New Town

48 Thistle Street, Edinburgh, Scotland EH2 1EN

22-11-2007

One of my favourite places in Edinburgh to go hang out. Like many of the places in Edinburgh this chocolate shop has bags of style, not only in its delectable cakes and chocs but its decor. Walk in here, and you've walked into a the Parisian cafe of your dreams and I'm sure the new location will only add to that.

The hot chocolate here is gorgeous but still hasn't beaten my favourite from the Chocolate Boutique in Auckland but I think that's down to personal preference!

The chocs here are DIVINE and you can tell that the chocolatiers really put thought and effort into everyone of them. They look beautiful, taste beautiful and it is this care and attention that really makes this place head and shoulders above the rest and dare I say it but this is one of the best chocolate shops in the UK.

The shop also boasts an extensive tea and coffee menu that once again shows the owners care and attention to source some unique blends.

If you love chocolate you will adore Plaisir du Chocolat.

Brent Reuse and Recycling Centre - Park Royal

Abbey Road, Park Royal, London NW10 7TJ

22-11-2007

Brilliant facility for local residents to recycle as much waste as possible. There is a long list of things that can be recycled here and its best to check the Brent Council website or call the number if you have any queries.

If you want to be really green you can buy composting bins from here for only £5 and make your own compost but the centre also sells the stuff too.

This centre really makes it easy to recycle so if you live nearby and have a clearout remember this place!

Aqua Clean - Acton

Europa House Hanger Lane, London W5 1DP

22-11-2007

Fast, friendly, professional dry cleaners. Ask about thier loyalty scheme and if you're looking for curtains there's a good store attached to the premises.

Ruskin - Londres

Denmark Hill, London SE24 0AA

22-11-2007

This park used to be my local one when I was a student and now that my brother lives nearby I've had another chance to go back.
The space is suprisingly large and you can't really tell this from the exterior. It's great for walking the dog or going for a jog but I enjoy going their most to check out the squirrels. There are tons of them and they are friendly although I don't encourage you to feed them. There's also a dog free playground for the kiddies.

Whiteleys Of Bayswater - Bayswater

151 Queensway, Bayswater, London W2 4YL

22-11-2007

Whitley's shopping centre keeps getting better and better each time I visit and its about to undergo a major makeover due to finish Summer 2008. Don't worry all the shops are still open but the centre is going to have a Luxury Food Hall and some great new restaurants to boot.

It has taken a while for this shopping centre to take off for some reason but now better stores are starting to move in . I have to say its a good alternative to some of the big high streets in Central London especially as the building itself is so beautiful and the crowds are relativley small.

H&M, Zara, Karen Millen and Accesorize all live here but the great thing about Whiteley's is that it has more to offer than shopping. There is a multiplex cinema, All Star Lanes (I love bowling) and some excellent restaurants, not to mention that just outside the centre they've opened a Patisserie Valerie!!

All this and you're within a stones throw of Notting Hill, Hyde Park and of course the general hub bub at Bayswater.

Gabriel's wharf - South Bank

Upper Ground, London SE1 9PP

22-11-2007

I love the Southbank and Gabriel's Wharf is one of the reasons why. The small cluster of reasonably priced restaurants, shops and cafe's are a great place to go before/after you've been to the Tate Modern or London Eye and is a great spot if you want to stay in town but prefer something a little more chilled out than the hubub of Leicester Sq etc.

The Gourmet Pizza Company and Riviera restaurants mark the entrance to the Wharf. Both offer great food and riverside views and the former is a good choice if you're on a budget.

Art galleries, custom jewellery stores and small fashion boutiques are the shops you'll find at the Wharf and this mix gives the place a lovely bohemian feel. So take a stroll along the Southbank and check it out.

The London Wetland Centre - Barnes

Queen Elizabeth's Walk, London SW13 9WT

22-11-2007

This place is so tranquil that it makes you forget that you are in London. The London Wetland Centre has been very well thought out to engage visitors of all ages and it is definitely a great day out for kids, as mentioned in the previous review, but it's also a good spot for adults who want to escape to a rural setting if only for the day.

There are some great hides if you fancy some bird watching, but I have to admit that I prefer going for a stroll in the meadows then relaxing at the waterside cafe. You'll see all sorts of wildlife, the visitors centre is full of information about the animals at the centre and if you have specific questions the staff are always happy to tell you more.

This really is a fun day out for all and trust me you'll be astounded by all the wildlife and then you'll be astounded again when you remember that you're in London.
