argos - Boscombe

Bournemouth BH5 1ED

If you need to buy a large items from Argos then don’t choose to go to this store. The branch is well out of the way a good walk away from the main town, and there is no parking nearby that I would feel comfortable leaving my car in.
The shop is quite large for such an out of the way place, and you can get exactly everything you would expect to get in an Argos store, but you have a long walk back to the main shopping centre and car parks with your purchases.
I find the staff to be wandering aimlessly in this store and you really have to get someone’s attention with difficulty if you need help.

macdonalds - Boscombe

Bournemouth BH5 1ED

Macdonalds is a fair walk down the high street in Boscome away from the main shopping centre. I feel it is too closely placed to other eateries to really stand out against the crowd. The branch is a large area but I don;t find it to be the cleanest of places which is a shame. They have wide automatic doors and if you sit too near them it;s very cold when eating your meal.
There doesn’t appear to be a lot of structure to the queuing system in this branch either and people don;t worry about pushing in front of you. This really puts me off going in here but sometimes some chips is what I want.

g & t's - Boscombe

Bournemouth BH5 1ED

G&T’s is a discount store that can be found on Boscombe high street. There are always offers and bargains to be found in the store. the sell a lot of seasonal products as well as dicounted every day items such as stationary and greetings cards to toys and homewares. The quality of the goods isn;t always very high but you get what you pay for and you certainly don’t pay a lot in G&T’s for anything.
The shop is large and each shelf and aisle is packed with stock. I don;t find it a problem manouvering through the aisles with a pushchair however as there is always enough room for this.

Wilkinson - Bournemouth

Sovereign Centre, Christchurch Road, Bournemouth BH1 4SX

24-01-2009

Wilkinsons is almost hidden away in the back of the sovereign Centre, but once you know where it is you’re return all the time.
The store is large and has a great selection of items for sale from stationary to household to food.
There are a lot of tills, and my only bug bear with these is that they are very narrow to get through on your own let alone with a pushchair.
The prices in Wilkinsons are very reasonable for a cheaper end of the market shop.
There are plenty of staff around and they will always help you reach items that are up high, or find a trolley for the heavier items for you which is a nice service.

Claire's Accessories UK - Bournemouth

Sovereign Centre, Christchurch Road, Bournemouth BH1 4SX

24-01-2009

I find this Claire’s shop to be quite small and cramped, even compared to other shops in the area.
They have their ear piercing station right in the window. Who wants to see people having their ears pierced?
The staff in this shop are great though even if they do try to push baskets and products on you all the time. There always seems to be too many staff for customers but it’s their profits.
I like going into this shop as they have some good sales items on quite regularly and this makes the experience worthwhile and tempts you to buy more.
They have a wide range even though they are short on space.

Poundland - Bournemouth

Unit 8 9 Sovereign Centre, 600 Christchurch Road, Bournemouth BH1 4SX

24-01-2009

Of course everything in Poundland will cost you a pound, and that is what makes me go into the store each time I am in town. I find it to be quite narrow and tight with a push chair but it’s do able so we squeeze round anyway. The stock in the shop changes regularly so I would reccomend getting something if you see it as it may not be there next time.
The shop has now introduced card payments accepted as forms of payment as long as you spend over £5 which is not difficult.
The quality of the stock ranges from completely rubbish that actually isn;t even worth a pound to stock that is worth much more, so you have to know what to buy and what to leave.

tj hughes - Boscombe

soveriegn centre, Bournemouth BH1 4HZ

24-01-2009

If you walk into TJ HUghes in Boscombe you will find everything you could possibly want under one roof. The shop is over two floors and has stock everywhere, and I mean everywhere. Downstairs you’ll find clothes, shoes and perfumes, with the seasonal goods, whilst upstairs there are electricals, homewares, and a cafe.
I always find the shop to be busy but cluttered. There is usually even stock on the stairs as you go up and down.
The prices in TJ HUghes are very competitive and it’s always worth taking a look here before buying something elsewhere as they have all the top makes at a discounted price.

peacocks - Boscombe

Sovereign Centre, Bournemouth BH1 4HZ

24-01-2009

I always find this branch of Peacocks to have most things I am looking for.
They have very limited changing rooms which is a shame for such a large shop. They are placed behind the tills so I assume the staff can keep an eye on what is going in and out.
The rails are usually messy and sometimes it takes a while to search through to find what you are looking for, but overall you can find what you need and usually at a good price as well.
They have a good section of all the accessories as well as clothes they sell which is good compared to other smaller branches.

boots - Boscombe

soveriegn centre, Bournemouth BH1 4HZ

24-01-2009

The Boots store in Boscombe is quite a small store compared to others in the district. I don;t find it to be laid out very well. Being long and thin going from the Sovereign Centre through to the high street, the aisles are smaller and I can never seem to find what I want.
There are two sets of tills, one at the front and other at the side of the store. I find they have a small selection of most items Boots sell so I give them their due they try to incorporate everything into the store, but somehow it doesn;t quite work.
The staff are always friendly and helfpul and I find I have to ask quite a lot.

Oriental Express - West Moors

161 Station Road, Ferndown, Dorset BH22 0HT

22-01-2009

I have bought from a lot of different Chinese takeaways in the past, and this one is distinctly average compared to others. The prices and the menu is almost identical to another I order from and we had high hopes for the food to be identical too. Unfortunately we have always found the food to be a little dry and sometimes too salty for our taste.
The shop itself is clean and tidy and always looks marginally busy when we go past, but now I would rather travel a little further to the next one down the road.
They do offer a local delivery service for a surcharge.
