This is agreat day out for all the family, it really is so interesting, the audio tour makes it really a worthwhile visit.
It can be quiet busy though so try and go during the week if possible.
It is quite expensive but you can look out for Historic Scotland’s free weekend in April when admission to all thier properties is free of charge.
Also when the Queen visits Edinburgh and stays here, Edinburgh’s own military regiment does an outstanding drill parade .

The Pentland Hills are a great place to go for a walk, its like the countryside in the centre of a city.
It is especially great as unlike Arthurseat it is a larger landmass with less people so it is quieter and easier to find a place by youself.
Military train in some parts of the hills too which can make for some great entertainment.

This is a great place for children and for adults. Kids can have a great look about at all the old toys and it has to offer and can even play with some of them. Adults will also enjoy this stroll down memory lane.
Admission is free and it has a great little shop where you can buy gifts too.
It is centrally loacted on the Royal Mile which makes for a great day out where you can visit lots of edinburgh’s attractions.

Top man is a great chain espacially this one as it is a large store and always has the most up to date fashions in store.
It is great value for money and they also do some great cheap basics like tshirts and jeans.
The staff are well trained on till procedures and you rarely have to wait long in the queues.
They also have a top shop here aswell which makes for a good shopping trip with the girlfriend!

A good local bar if you live in the area where you can get a great, cheap pint. Pints start from as little as £1.90. The bar has alarge seating capacity, a pool table and a dance floor if you have one too many!
If this bar was situated in the city centre it would be extremely popular althoughit can be quite territorial where it is based.
It is also well located with a couple of take aways located nearby for a kebab on the way home!

A friendly up and coming barbers in this area. You can get a great haircut fo as little at £5 for an adult. Alan who runs the barbers is really talented and friendly and has great banter with the customers.
He can also fix PC’s in the shop which he does through the back if you need this service.
He also has great sweets on offer which all money made on them goes to charity.

Excellent restaurant close to the city, always packed out and its easy to see why once you have been.
Huge portions of pasta and big pizzas overflowing with toppings.
Its not too expensive and is good for eating tou with a group of friends.
The staff are great and do a brilliant job, the service was really quick.

Tynecastle Stadium is home to one of Edinburgh’s football teams, The Heart of Midlothian Football Club. It is a great ground in a great location, not far from the city centre and on lots of main bus routes. There are also plenty of pubs and cafes nearby for food etc and there are food stands within the stadium for food during games.
There is also a Hearts Megastore where you can buy all kinds of club merchandise which is a great place to buy pressies!

The Guru is an excellent Indian restaurant, the best in Edinburgh if you ask me! The menu is extensive, the food is beautiful and really good value.
The staff are great and you really feel like you are getting a specialist service just for you.
It is really quite busy though so try and book a table or you might have to wait a while!

I love this pizza hut as it is slightly outside city centre, it is much more chilled out and there seems to be less haste to eat.
They do a great selection of pizza, pasta and extras and it is great value.
The staff are really friendly and it has a nice local feel to it as the staff always seem to know people eating there.
There is not much room to eat in though but you can take away or have food delivered.
