Amazing steak, great atmosphere with lots of wooden paneling and dim lighting makes this the ideal chilled out restaurant for a romantic or relaxing after work meal.

The steaks are amazing – although I really did expect more from the waiter when I asked what the difference was between the porterhouse and the Chateaubriand. Telling me they are different cuts is like stating the obvious – and not being able to describe the differences in texture, as well as the fact that porterhouse includes two types of cuts, was slightly disappointing.

The meat was beautifully cooked though – with just a hint of smokiness which tantalized my tastebuds. The cornflake milkshake is also quite unique!

Triple cooked chips were nice, but average.

Great restaurant on Streatham High Street, probably the best Chinese & Japanese restaurant! Decor inside is modern, clean, relaxing, and spacious. There’s a wide menu, so you’re definitely bound to find something you like to eat.

Pricewise, extremely good value for money, especially the lunch deal of a main dish and drink for £5.80.

The food is also really good – I had the beef Japanese curry, where the beef was soft and juicy and the sauce quite authentic. Cheap restaurants normally overload Japanese curries with lots of cheap onions, but Mangetsu doesn’t.

Overall, you’re not going to find extremely fine dining here. But if you’re looking for a filling, tasty, good value lunch, then Mangetsu is good choice.

Great place for dim sum, and very good prices too. Portions are also huge, so you really do get the holy trinity of good food, great portions, and excellent prices.

Eaten here a couple of times before, and the food is never disappointing, either dim sum or proper dinner. Service is quick too. Its a bit of a random location, next to the ExCel exhibition centre, but if you are ever there for an exhibition or show, do go here for a lunch or dinner!

The food itself is OK – high quality ingredients, and tasty. Good menu selection as well, probably the only takeaway delivery that can do Chinese, Japanese, Italian, and American all in one box.

However, Deliverance is expensive – and unless you really want to have a selection of cuisines, then you’re probably better off getting takeaway from single-cuisine places where its more authentic.

The food itself gets 4 out of 5 stars from me, but combined with the pricing, I give it an overall 3 out of 5 stars.

Great cafe with very interesting vintage interior decor, most of it available to purchase as well! Great selection of homemade light food and pastries and cakes. Very popular on weekends, and getting a table here on a Saturday afternoon is near impossible!

Quite disappointing, even though I was there with a half price voucher (12.50) from QypeDeals. Salad bar very basic, and meats were unadventurous, cheap, and tough. Also the music was as loud as a club so you had to scream at your dining partners to be heard.

Would rather go to the one at Angel on Upper Street, which is still the best Rodizio brazilian buffet in London IMHO.

One of the best fish and chips I’ve ever had in London. Actually, its not the chips that are outstanding, but the amazing battered cod. I’ve never had a cod that was so fresh, so juicy, and coated in a golden batter that was just right, not too soft but not too burnt either.

Granted, its not special seaweed coated or beer flavoured batter, but for standard fish and chips, this is probably the best in London I’ve had. And its cheap too – £3.90 for a battered cod.

This place specialises in Fish n Chips, but like many of the restaurants on Clapham High Street, is way overpriced. While the battered fish was well cooked with a light batter, it was slightly swimming in oil when it was served.

The chips, which are a crucial component of any fish n chips, were mediocre.

Went here for a Christmas dinner with a group of colleagues. The hotel itself is very nice, very homely and warm. However, the food was a disappointment. We were sat in the conservatory, in the middle of winter, where it was slightly cold.

The mushroom risotto starter I had was a bit of a disappointment, as there were huge small round onions in it – for risotto, one of the basics is finely chopped onions. The rice was also inconsistently cooked, with some very crunchy bits still.

Mains were better – shoulder of lamb was tender, and the barley sauce was good.

Bincho Yakitori specializes in meat and veg grilled on a stick, Japanese-style. But I was disappointed as it didn’t give any wow factor – the skewers were cooked well, it just didn’t leave a very lasting impression – and that’s what restaurants that specialize in a specific product should.
So its a great place to go if you’re really hankering for a wide range of yakitori or want to have a “different” meal out than the usual 3 course Italian. Pricewise, its a bit steep for yakitori.
