Zen Restaurant - Bristol
Building 11 Explore Lane, Bristol BS1 5TY

Given that it’s in the heart of waterfront area, right next to M&S, it won’t be a surprise that the price is high in the menu. My friend and I went there on the opening night. The service is nice, probably because it’s the first night though. All the waiters and managers are Cantonese, but we were told the chefs are from Shandong province in China, so it will be authentic Chinese style as opposed to Cantonese style. One minute…. I thought Zen is supposed to be Sichuan style (hot and spicy), what can a Shandong chef do with Sichuan dishes.
Anyway, we ordered a few typical Sichuan dishes, and want them hot at its original level without any compromise. But it’s somewhat a disappointment, especially thinking of the price to pay.
Still can be improved. It has such a great location, which shouldn’t be wasted.

Good value, especially lunch menu. I am not familiar with genuine Greek food, so can’t say much on the quality of food though…
Zerodegrees Restaurant & Mircobrewery - Bristol

I guess it’s one of the place Bristolians are proud of?
The Mango Beer is my favorite. It’s interesting to see the brewery and such. I always take my friends there when they visit Bristol.
I highly recommend Salmon Pizza and Mussel, especially the latter, for which you can get a huge bowl full of mussels soaked in delicious sauce.

Nice place. Food tastes good, service is good. Just a bit expensive for its portion. But I guess most European food are like this?

If only the food can be less greasy. But it seems to be a die-hard problem of most of the old Chinese Restaurant. By ‘old’, I mean those more than 10 years. Some recently opened ones are getting better.
Once I was there with friends and we ordered a Tofu dish, which turned out to be a bit sour than it’s supposed to be. I’m pretty sure the Tofu had already gone off. The service is not too bad in the sense that the manager changed retracted the dish immediately and changed a different one. It could have been better in the sense that they shouldn’t charge us for that dish :D
To sum up, I personally wouldn’t go there too often.
Wagamamas - Clifton

Looks posh and such. But it’s a bit too salty for me… and quite expensive for its portion. But not surprised, as it’s mainly Japanese food, although officially a mixture of Asian food.
Watershed Media Centre - Bristol
1 Canons Road, Bristol BS1 5TX

I found in the centre quite a lot of information on short courses in movie study and its derivatives, such as directing, acting, singing, etc. This is the main reason I like this place. It’s a place more academic and serious about movies. I watched There Will Be Blood in the Watershed Theatre there. The ‘theatre’ is virtually a small room with a small screen. But the atmosphere is great. Almost all audience are Britons aged 25-40, who look like middle-class and genuie movie fans. This is one of the moments I do like staying in Bristol.
