The Cock Hotel - Stony Stratford

72-74 High Street, Milton Keynes MK11 1AH

19-11-2008

This pub (never stayed in the hotel) is great - perfect for a beer in the garden - great sun trap and relaxed atmosphere. It’s also got a range of sizes of table which is great because it means that bigger groups can go and hang out together too.

Parking as everywhere in Stony is a bit of a nightmare so you’re best getting a taxi.

The Old Thatched Inn - Adstock

Main Street, Adstock, Buckingham, Buckinghamshire MK18 2JN

19-11-2008

Parking is the only thing wrong with this place. The food is great, the service is great and it’s got a really snug feel about it. Open fires means that this really feels like and old fashioned inn. Off the beaten track a bit but worth a visit. It really caters for all types as well which is nice and perfect for a lazy Sunday afternoon.

Prego - Buckingham

4 High Street, Buckingham, Buckinghamshire MK18 1NT

19-11-2008

Great value and like it’s sister restaurant in Newport Pagnell, offers really good value for money. Never disappointed and quick service means it’s a great alternative to a take away.
Awesome service and more of a cafe feel to it than the bigger chains!

Stowe Landscape Gardens - Buckingham

Stowe Landscape Gardens, Buckingham, Buckinghamshire MK18 5DQ

19-11-2008

Amazing place - pretty uniue as it’s always busy with people (having a scholl there!) and none of the pretentious feeling of other stately homes. Gardens are great and a few moments walk from the main building and it offers real tranquility. None of the 'theme park’ facilities but that’s part of it’s charm.

The White Hart Hotel - Buckingham

1 Market Square, Buckingham, Buckinghamshire MK18 1NJ

19-11-2008

This place is a bit of a hub for Buckingham and gets really busy at the weekend - the food is ok - normal pub food. It’s an unusual arrangement which means that each area has a diffeent atmosphere but it works well. It’s not a place for a quiet pint and has a tendancy to get rowdy and busy at the bar but if you don’t mind that or are looking for that then it’s great!

Euston Station - Bloomsbury

Euston Road, Euston, London NW1 2RT

19-11-2008

Euston in my opinion os the least glam of any of the London train stations however it does have masses of food places and it’s now got another bar which is a bonus if you get stuck waiting.

The whole toilet issue drags on and having to pay for the convenience is annoying - especially if you don’t have any change.

Massive screen makes seeing your train easy!

The Hempel Hotel - Bayswater

31-35 Craven Hill Gardens, Paddington, London W2 3EA

19-11-2008

It’s a funny hotel. I kind of feel like it’s a modern exhibition stand more than a hotel. Food is variable but the gardens make up for things. It’s not really one thing or another though so I think there’s better value on the market for boutique hotels. That said, it’s got a good reputation for service and it’s funky so it should always be considered as an option.

Park Plaza Riverbank Hotel - Lambeth

18 Albert Embankment, London SE1 7TJ

19-11-2008

Really great hotel for conferences - a bit too far out of town to be a real shopping break hotel but the food is great, the staff are fantastic and the rooms are lovely if a bit noisy - certainly ask for one on the river front and not overlooking the railway line.

It’s brilliant for conferences and events but be warned - parking for the very privaliged only!

The Cumberland Hotel - Marylebone

Great Cumberland Place, Mayfair, London W1H 7DL

19-11-2008

This hotel is great for busines or pleasure. It’s good value and located perfectly for trundling around town. The bar is nice, the restaurant is nice and there’s loads of function space - a sure consideration for anyone staging conferences. The only draw back is that the standard rooms are pretty small and the Oxford Street fronting rooms are really noisy. The foyer is really nice and you feel like you’re somewhere exciting.

Holiday Inn - Corby

Geddington Road, Corby, Northamptonshire NN18 8ET

19-11-2008

This place needs a lick of paint and modernising. The bar area is the foyer and feels like it. The rooms are big but old feeling. Parking’s ok and the restaurant serves good food which is it’s redeaming feature. It’s also noisy on a main road.
