We were visiting the area on Valentine’s Day, so I booked up in advance to ensure a table.

The place had a great atmosphere, and the staff were very attentive and helpful.

I found the food to be of excellent quality and about what you would pay for a restaurant in the area.

We both went away very happy

We visited the Royal Oak as we were unable to get into the Brick Layers Arms (1.6km away).

On entering the pub, I found it a little smoky from the log fires, but this added to its charm. The pub comprises of a small bar, and a lot of square dining tables just like one’s parents used to have!

There were a couple of locals sat in the corner surveying their patch and a numbe of other people having Saturday lunch.

The bar staff were very friendly. I had a pint of beer that is brewed in Tring which was very nice. For lunch I had the sausage and mash, which was very tasty. My girlfriend had a cheese ploughman’s sandwich. This was most disappointing as the filling was lost in the bread. In fact, given that it was a cheese ploughmans, there was definitely not enough cheese.

I’d give the place another try if I’m passing, but to be fair, it was a bit expensive.

We visite Fego’s a couple of weeks ago. We went for breakfast. I agree it was probably a bit expensive, but we liked the fact that everything had been freshly cooked. Food was excellent and the service was also good.

The restaurant is small, but the food is good. The staff are very friendly and will always try to accommodate. However, on Friday and Saturday evenings I recommend you book.

They sell both Kingfisher and Cobra on tap which helps.

The menu is fairly standard but what is produced is very good.

There is ample parking at the restaurant.

On entering the restaurant you are greeted by a staff member dressed in authentic dress. There is a bar where you can have a drink and Indian nibbles whilst you wait to be seated.

The restaurant is light and airy. As with all Indian restaurants the tables are quite close together.

The menu is very extensive and they have a lot of different dishes on offer. The service is reasonably quick.

The food is superb. Whilst the dishes are spicy, it is not overpowering and all the flavours of the different spices can be tasted. Excellent food.

The downside are the waiters. Probably because they are rushed off their feet, they were fairly miserable apart from one smiley chap. This spoiled it a bit for me or I would have given the restaurant 5 stars.

Oh yes, the cobra on draught also didn’t taste as good as at my local Indian. Who knows why….

Not bad for a council run centre. At times the machines get very busy in the Contours Health Club. Swimming pools excellent. Staff friendly and helpful
