Excellent location, staff very helpfull and kindely. Excellent breakfast and quite safe. No drunk or crazy people annoying there.
For sure I recommend this Hostel.
If you are a HI menber, you can get a small discount. I always stay there when I go to Amsterdam. Ah! There is a good bar inside!

I stayed for 15 days in march/2008. The staff is not so helpfull (except for JUAN, that is an incredible person), the breakfast was very very poor, only 1 batheroom/floor, can´t say clean. I saw pickpockets sometimes there. In other hand, very well located and in a cheap area.
The HI Hostel in Paris are very poor.
