The Dolphi Transport - Bloomsbury
27 Old Gloucester Street, London WC1N 3AX

Relatively cheap way to send your packages from the UK to Czech and Slovakia Republics, and vice versa. The fact that it’s door to door makes it rather comfi and as little hassle as possible. They will weight it for you, you can pay cash or card either of the locations (pick up or drop off). Their servicemen are usually rather nice and I had no bad experience. They communicate well and are reliable, which is probably why I’ve seen this business growing substantially overt he past few years.
The Prince Charles Cinema - Leicester Square
7 Leicester Place, Leicester Square, London WC2H 7BP

It s a really nice, relatively small cinema, which doesn’t have a mainstream feel to it. The staff are really nice and laid back and generally the venue is cool (sadly including the temperature inside somewhat) and the downstairs bar is very sweet and cosy, a little get away in the middle of Leicester Sq. I am considering becoming a member, as it is actually rather a good deal, even better than Picture Houses I would say… The tickets don’t cost a fortune which is also plus.
The Aubin Cinema - Shoreditch
64-66 Redchurch Street, Shoreditch, London E2 7DP

I just love it. It is perfect. Very small and cosy. You can take in drinks (in nice proper mugs and glasses) and you also get a blanket to snuggle up in. The screen is small, yes, don’t expect a mainstream lay out. But it is perfect for the venue’s size. I went to see pre-screening of The Deep Blue Sea there and am sure I loved the film more because of having seen it in The Aubin. However, if you are driving, beware! The Tower Hamlets will charge you £265 for parking on a single yellow on Sunday before 2PM (as opposed to midday which is normal everywhere else)
The Horse Hospital - Bloomsbury
30 Colonnade, London WC1N 1JD

I only recently came across this underground cool venue. I loved it first time I went, for a private party, I didn’t love it so much second time around. A bit too quiet, a bit too full of too cool for school people who were so trendy they weren’t even trendy yet. Although, it is probably the last place in London where a cup of wine (yes, plastic cup, made me feel 17 again) costs £3. So that’s a plus. It probably really depends on the do you go for here, but I do love it, for its originality and certain raw and real feel to it. Seems like a great venue for hire. Not too big, perfect location.
Harley Medical Group , 6 Harley Street - Marylebone

This is a no no. I went in to get rid of two small brown spots from sun. Not a major issue, more like freckles but why not, they had special offers on.
The initial consultation felt more like a visit to someone you owe money or something rather than a medical / beauty consultation. Yes, of course they offer a service they want money for, but seriously… Even retail people are better behaved! Anyway, it was brief, I didn’t get to know much but it seemed perfectly safe to go ahead with, just a bit of PPx. BUT when I got in ad read some papers I was to sign before the first of 6 sessions, I came across teh fact that I should not be taking anything with St Johns Wort, which I was, as a part of some herbal supplement. Luckily I read before signing and the therapist said she can’t go ahead, because it could basically burn my face and scar me for life (was my understanding). Great, I wonder why if St John’s Wort is ‘one of the very few things they can’t treat on’, I haven’t been specifically asked about it during the initial consultation. Them the therapist wasn’t sure how long it takes for it to leave the system (of course, how could she know this from the top of her head, it’s just people’s looks and lives they’re dealing with?!).
She then emailed it’s three weeks. So I go in n three weeks. I tell the new therapist (yes, it is only personal matters so why would you expect to be booked with the same therapist?) the reason the first session didn’t happen. She’s mortified saying that it actually takes 6 months(!) for the herb to leave the body and that she can’t go ahead. Bear in mind they still have my money and I am being super polite about it. When I leave I expect some email about what is going to happen next, i.e. are they going to keep my money for 6 months? Nothing happens, so I contacted them and am expecting refund. I also found some horrible reviews since then (yes, burns on face and neck, you name it). It is also very expensive compared to high street, what they are asking. For a company which charges premium and prides itself to be number 1 in the country I would say this is worse than poor. There’s no way I’m going back, ever. It actually didn’t feel safe. It felt like they picked some random sales women from Carephone Warehouse and dressed them in a nurse uniform. There should be regulations in this country!
Table Mountain - Cidade do Cabo
Cape Town
13-09-2010
Have never seen anything like it (sure, there is just one Table Mountain after all). Just amazing. Really breath taking. Definitely a must go when in Cape Town. BUT do do your homework: pre book tickets online, because the queues are excruciating (there are queues for the pre booked tix as well, but incomparable) . DO take a jacket with you and long trousers. The temperature difference up there is shocking and nothing spoils the view like shaking with cold (I had to wrap a towel around my self, like skirt, humiliating, but better than freezing your bits off). If you are planning to have a snack or something up there, take it with you. The cafe gets incredibly crowded.
Museum Of Slavery - Cidade do Cabo
Cape Town
13-09-2010
The walk to the museum is pretty, through the town. The museum itself is in the impressive building where all the slaves used to 'live' if you can call that. So that is quite great in terms of putting things in context. It does give you some information; I was quite surprised, that Afro slaves were merely part of a WAY bigger concept (yeah, all the Indians ad Asian people are still around for the same reasons, but seam not to rave about it as much?). But that's where the good bits end as far as I am concerned. The over all info (politicised) does not seem to be very accurate/specific or in depth. To say it is biased is a weak word. One would think that Brits were the sole slave traders when in fact they were the first to stop, but whateva....Go and see it, it is as close as you can get to educational culture in that part of the world. Generally my recommendation would be to focus on the nature of the place, that is magnificent (Africa, not the museum of course)
Joanne of Arc Museum - Rouen
Rouen
13-09-2010
I am a bit torn as for what to write, because the truth is; I have never seen anything like it. And the recommendation is; don't go. See? Now you will go to see it for yourself, won't you. It is truly entertaining in all the bad ways, hahaha. It will give you just about as much info about Joanne as Wikipedia (at the best). but it is spiced up with really bad wax figurines work and voiceover (Madam Tausseaud would slit her wrists over that). No real relics except few coins and hot wax signatures/stamps. Quite shocking really. But hilarious as I promise chances are, you would have never seen anything like it either. Actually, to be fair something nearly as historically vague is in Cape Town, and that is the Museum of Slavery...Again, do not go. Or do, something to rave about later, for sure...
Twelve Apostles - Cidade do Cabo
Cape Town
13-09-2010
Twelve Apostles - Cidade do Cabo
Cape Town
