Chococo - Swanage

Commercial Road, Swanage, Dorset BH19 1DF

05-07-2010

This place is a chocoholics paradise.
Set away from the main Swanage high street, this cafe also has a viewing area where you can see the chocolate being made.
This is not a standard cafe - nothing on the menu is savory, it's all about the puddings.
Milkshakes, cakes and ice cream sundaes are the order of the day, all served with lashings of chocolate.

Also, on those few summery days we have it's worth noting that the air conditioning is brilliant, so the chocolate is eaten at the optimimum temperature and you leave feeling cooler, more relaxed and more than a little full.

Wickes Building Supplies - Bournemouth

1 Turbury Retail Park, 891-895 Ringwood Road, Bournemouth BH11 8LL

I have never been that keen on this store as I find it never has all the things I need and would rather go to B & Q or Homebase.

However recently I had seen a very good deal on some flooring in Wickes and so bought it from this store.

I was very pleasantly surprised by the staff's knowledge, friendliness and helpfullness.

I made use of the free delivery as I was spending over £300 and was pleased to find out I could have it delivered on Saturday for no extra charge.

When needing to return some unused packets they were again helpful and friendly.
I will be using this store again in the future.

epan It is outrageous to charge people like that though these sorts of charges are the phenomenon nowadays. We must chose a fair regulator - I mean fair to individual voters of course including the motorists.

This shopping centre needs a transformation and it seems it is poorly managed. People go there for leisures could be one of the selling pointshe. Cheap bargains and 99p shop could be good for some people, but it is not cheap at all after you pay for the parking charges. Why must people chose to go there when there are other discount shops in the town. For example, in Wimbourne Road, Winton.

ShakeAway - Southampton

24 Bargate Shopping Centre, Southampton, Hampshire SO14 2YD

This place is great.

It was the second branch of this chain to open, after the original branch in Bournemouth.

It is worth the wait in the short queue for a milkshake from here - whilst in the queue you can ponder which of the 100 or so flavours you want to try. These range from different chocolate products to fruit and random things like muffin.

They are good at catering for allergies with soya milk etc.

I always like to have a look at what else they have, they were the first place I managed to buy Hershey bars in the UK.

The original and the best

Gala Casino Bournemouth - Bournemouth

48 Westover Road, Bournemouth BH1 2BZ

03-06-2009

This photo really doesn’t do the place justice :)

Downstairs there is a number of gaming machines and an excellent ice bar where the ghe whole bar is made from freezing ice, which is great for keeping your drinks cold whilst not watering them down.

Upstairs is the main casino but if you are like me, that’s not the reason I go.

It is easy to go in the bar after a big night out, have a quiet drink and some reasonably priced food and it is far more civilsied than queuing for a takeaway.

Ink Bar - Bournemouth

Richmond Hill, Bournemouth BH2 6HH

03-06-2009

This bar is situated in part of the Art deco building which houses the Bournemouth echo (hence the name).
This bar is a good place to go for a drink with a new date, especially if you were to follow it up with a meal in the print room next door.

The decor is chic, with lots of dark colours and opulent fabrics.

Toby Carvery - Bournemouth

Castle Lane East, Bournemouth BH7 7DP

03-06-2009

This place is great to meet with a group of friends or family due to it’s easy to find location and lots of free parking.

This place can get quite busy on a Sunday but it deserves to be as the food is very good.

The service is good and the queue for the carvery is not usually more than a couple of minutes.

An easy place to take a group as food is served quickly.

Bar Me - Bournemouth

138 Old Christchurch Road, Bournemouth BH1 1NL

This pub sums up exactly what is wrong with the night life in Bournemouth town centre.

Crammed full of young teenagers, spilling onto the street, barely able to stand.

It is no coindence that this bar is next door to the lap dancing club and the pub seems to pitch itself as a warm up for this establishment with a pole on the dance floor and a glass staircase and walkway to the ladies toilets.

The final straw for me was when using the toilets I found that some of the cubicles were designed to be able to talk to the person in the next cubicle - some things are meant to be private!

O'Neills Bournemouth - Bournemouth

231 Old Christchurch Road, Bournemouth BH1 1JZ

03-06-2009

This pub is at it’s best on Friday nights when the place is packed with workers who are having a pint (or 6) after a busy week and waiting for the live band to start.

The bands tend to be rock based and quite good and gets the whole pub dancing and singing along by the end.

The style of O’neills is a mock Irish pub but I feel it is similar to a few I have been into (and enjoyed) in Temble Bar, Dublin.

Snappy Tomato Pizza - Bournemouth

33 Exeter Road, Bournemouth BH2 5AF

03-06-2009

This place is great for a post-night out takeaway.

Due to the volumes of people in town it can get busy after the pubs kick out but the quality of the food is good, the staff good natured and service reasonably quick.

In addition to pizzas, Snappy’s does chips, burgers, kebabs, baguettes etc etc.

Since this photo was taken Snappy’s has expanded into the store next door to maximise the number of hungry mouths they can feed each evening.

Another plus is that there is a taxi rank immediately outside.

Bournemouth beach - Bournemouth

This very pretty art deco arcade is worth a visit.

It houses a large branch of Waterstones, a very good gift shop (sorry I can’t remember it’s name) which has local pictures etc at reasonable prices.

This arcade also has a branch of Essential which is a jewellery and accessory shop where you will be able to find the jewels to match any outfit. Essentials charges between £5 and £100 for each piece but the range is amazing and useful when you need something particualr for a special occasion.
