Dhillons - Falkirk

262 Grahams Road, Falkirk, Scotland FK2 7BH

18-11-2008

this takeaway is situated in grahams road, next to d’yoga (new restaurant). it is part of a small family run chain through out the falkirk area. they do all sorts of food like pizza, curry and rive, kebabs, burgers and chips. so when the family cannot make up their mind what to have, they have something to suit everyone. the food is nice but it takes them ages to make it. the best thing to do is phone in your order and it’ll be ready for you to collect, save you from hanging around for ages. they also do home deliveries, but because they can get quite busy, they are not very fast.they also have a loyalty scheme, where they send you a voucher after you have collected enough points, depending on your spend.

Edinburgh ZOO - Edimburgo

134 Corstorphine Road, Edinburgh, Scotland EH12 6TS

18-11-2008

this zoo, is great, it takes a good few hours to go around it all. there are plenty of animals to see, they now have the new big budongo trail. the last time we went is was pretty cold, so it helped us to warm up a bit, by going in there. first there is the sealion show while you wait for the trailer. the best way to view everything is to take the trailer up to the very top its free (all donations are welcome) then you walk down the hill at your own pace. about half way down there are plenty of facilities for lunch, we usually take a picnic with us. then you can watch the penguin parade, the kids love it, even the big kids! then of coarse you have the souvineer shop on the way out, it is a bit expensive, but you can’t leave without something, even a pencil.

Howgate Shopping Centre - Falkirk

High Street, Falkirk, Scotland FK1 1DU

18-11-2008

this shopping centre is the heart of shopping in falkirk. there are several entrances from the high street, the main entrance, boots, woolworths, and marks and spencer. there is also an entrance round the back in pleasance gardens. it has a multistorey car park below it on 3 levels, there is a car valeting service on level one and the disabled and parents parking spaces are on level 3. there are a lot of spaces, but in my opinion they are quite tight spaces. there are plenty of decent shops in the centre and a large cafe area in the middle of centre. the centre is always clean and tidy, there is always someone sweeping at your legs, lol. the toilets are clean and have straightners in there that you can use for £1.

i have one point to anyone new, dont forget to pay for your parking at the paypoints on each level, before you enter the car park, to leave.

Jamancar Post Office - Falkirk

126 Cumbrae Drive, Falkirk, Scotland FK1 4AW

18-11-2008

this post office is situated in tamfourhill. it is a tiny wee post office inside a small corner shop. the post office takes up the corner of this little shop and the staff for the post office are the servers for the shop too, this can be annoying at times, because the shop part can be quite busy, and you are constantly being disturbed, whilst trying to do business in the post office side. on the other hand i’m sure the locals find it very handy, because the next nearest post office is camelon or falkirk. the place is not clean or even tidy and it smells a bit, but the staff are reasonably pleasant.

Phones 4u - Falkirk

25 Howgate Shopping Centre, High Street, Falkirk, Scotland FK1 1HG

18-11-2008

this shop is situated in the howgate centre, next to mathiesons. they have a great selection of handsets and accessories. they also have great deals on most networks. they are very helpful and know a lot about the products they are selling, but the only thing that puts me off going there is the fact that they are very , very pushy. they are quite clearly working on commission and will do almost anything for a sale. a friend of mine went in because she bought her phone there and it was insured with them, it was dropped in water and she went back to get it fixed or a replacement, but she had left it too long from the time of the incident, so they would not do that for her. instead the girl in the shop wanted to sell her a new contract!!!! i hate when people take advantage of people who dont know any better. so she didn’t take the new one, thankfully.

Clarkes shoes - Livingston

35-37 Mccather Glen Outlet Centre, Livingston Designer Outlet, Livingston, Scotland EH54 6HR

18-11-2008

this shop is situated in mcarthur glen shopping centre. it is a discount store because most if not all of the shoes are from last seasons stock, but i mean, who can tell! it is a very busy shop and is run with an iron fist. for the kids, you have to take a ticket to get measured, then go and choose a few styles, take another ticket to get your size and try them on, then go to the till to pay. because it is so busy the staff can get a bit impatient if you are taking your time (cant get the kids to agree with you) , other than this they are lovely people. the quality of the shoes are excellent and are very reasonably priced, especially the rate my dayghter goes through them, i normally ahve to buy them 2 at a time.

Early Learning Centre - Falkirk

Unit 16a Howgate Shopping Centre, High Street, Falkirk, Scotland FK1 1HG

18-11-2008

this shop is situated in the howgate centre in falkirk. it is not a very big store but it is packed with loads of things. i particulary like it because it has a lot of educational toys, i find it helps a lot to make learning fun. the are specifically aimed at younger children in there toy stuff, i’d say from birth to maybe 6 years, but there are a few items for slightly older children, like arty projects, jewellery making kits and such like, they also sell lots of outdoor toys too, ball pits, swings, sandpits etc. they normally do some good offers before xmas too, so well worth a look.

Burger King - Falkirk

124-128 High Street, Falkirk, Scotland FK1 1NR

17-11-2008

this restaurant is situated in the high street, just past the steeple. this place is not very good, and i wont be going back in a hurry. the food as you’d expect from burger king is very nice, much nicer than mcdonalds, but this branch is diabolical with the service. its as if everyone is on a go slow and tomorrow will be fine, it’s supposed to be fast food, but it’s not. the restaurant is clean and tidy but the toilets are smelly. the place is always empty, no one ever seems to sit it, but there is always a q with 1 server!!!

Wetherspoons - Falkirk

Bank Street, Falkirk, Scotland FK1 1NB

17-11-2008

this pub is situated in the town centre. it is cheap and cheerful, it is a good place to start off for the night, but its not the kind of place you could spend the whole night, it gets very overcrowded at the weekend. they dont have any music playing, all they have is a big tv with no sound, usually on a sports channel. they have nice food, at very reasonable prices. they do big pitchers of cocktails at a decent price, it’s a good place to go for a group of girls having a catchup over a meal and a few drinks.

Wheatsheaf Inn - Falkirk

16 Baxters Wynd, Falkirk, Scotland FK1 1PF

17-11-2008

this pub is kind of hidden away, at the back of the high street. it is in the town centre though and the prices reflect this. it’s not a very expensive pub, but it is more expensive than the ones out of town. it is very nice and cosy inside, with lots of friendly regulars and the staff are really nice too. they dont do food, the closest you get is a bag of crisps. they also have a beer garden at the back, which is nice in the summer, not that we really had one this year. a good place to start a night out before heading to a club, it’s not too noisy so you can have a ctch up.
