I should really write a shocking review for Raab’s, in the attempt to prevent possibly the best bakery in the World, or at least the best bakery this side of the Dales, becoming too popular. I should discuss how their fantastic selection of breads - walnut, sundried tomoatoe, olive - at incredibly cheap prices, are just plain rubbish, and how their scrumptious cream cakes and hefty brownies are too no ones taste. However, this would be an injustive to Raab - whoever he may be - and an injustice to all loaf lovers out there. Raab’s is the best thing since sliced bread - which incidentally they offer for an extra 3p.

Boujouis Marleybone boasts this superb little deli, tucked away just off the High Street. Thankfully it’s very much a case of West End setting, East End prices. Good selection of the standard deli fare - sun blushed tomatoes, salami etc, - however this place comes into its own with an outrageous selection of marmalades, jam and other preserved concoctions, spanning the entire back wall of the shop. Eat in, or take out, the choice is yours. Cheery service provides the icing on this particularly satisfying retail cake, and I suspect if you want a cherry as well they probably sell these too.

Alongside the Stratford Picture House, one of the real cultural landmarks of east London. A great range of courses are available, run by friendly and enthusiastic staff.

Delicious nosh, served always with a smile. In E15 there are few better eateries for a quick bite.

Part of the chain containing the excellent Ritzy in Brixton, the Picturehouse is a diamond in the rough in Stratford. Great films, and a nice selection of food during the day. Get down there.

Good if you’ve got the munchies, maybe not if you need to do a big shop.
