We had to wait at least 15 minutes to receive the menu. Another 20 min to order… the same with the food. Their speciality 'the Pici’ looked like 10 pieces of empty macaroni with ugly fried bacon on top on a huge plate (I regret that I did not take a photo of it - it is a masterpiece) Waiters are slow and phlegm … and they charge 15% for this service
alibeaufait I’m sorry you had such a horrible experience at this restaurant, however this is most certainly not the experience everyone has in going there. I recently returned to america from Siena and I must’ve eaten at Alla Speranza 6 or 7 times, each time it was wonderful. In Italy, slow service is good service, they never rush you, a meal is not meant to be a quick thing. Also, the servers were wonderful, very nice and very welcoming. I respect your opinion of the eatery based on your experience but it is entirely false that they have a service charge of 15%. There is not service charge at all, there is a seating fee of 3 euro per person, no percentage or tipping involved. The people, the food and he service there are excellent, otherwise I would not have returned so many times. Anyone who reads this negative review, please take into consideration what positive things i’ve said as well. Alla speranza is a wonderful place.
