A nice place, right in the middle of Paris, in a very Bourgeois area. Not far from the Bastille and the Marais. For everyone to relax, read, couples to mess around, young people to do bizarre things… Warning, you are not recommended to bring beers or other alcoholic drinks, the guards tend to not really appreciate it.

The Fontaine Saint Michel is the symbol of the square of the same name. Magnificent and quite tall, it witnesses a great many tourists fill past it during the year. Having myself personally bathed in it for the 2006 semi-final, I can confirm that the water is cold, but it remains very climbable.

This climbing room is pretty efficient when you’re a climber who wants to let off steam but you don’t want to go out in the awful weather in the Phocaean town. There are several types of route, very physical, you will soon lose feeling in your arms. Entrance is a bit expensive for my tastes (6.50 euros for students, about 7 euros for others).

If you’re visiting the catacombs you should definitely try and avoid taking the official guided tour and just going with someone you know. There’s so much to explore inside. Hundreds and hundreds of kilometres long (around 400) comprised of underground galleries, leading you to lots of « rooms ». Each room has a name based on its historical use or on the people who built it. Given that these catacombs were for many years used as a form of cemetery there are bones and skulls galore… Definitely worth the experience.

This salsa club will perfectly suit tourists or originality seekers.
It’s a small club but well situated in the center of town, in the 6th arrondissement (district). Cours Julien (Julien Courtyard) is close by, in the heart of the bustling quarter of Marseille. Give the bouncer a big smile before you go in, pay around 15 Euros admission, and enjoy yourself.

Bar anarcho-trendy, great vibe, regulars will welcome you with open arms, provided that you’re not wearing a suit… Beer is not expensive, the area is attractive. It’s possible to eat as well, with a multitude of little dishes available. I particularly liked the toilets’ decor.

A beach in Marseille set apart by its size, very large and very busy in season. There are some other friendlier beaches in Marseille but this one is the most accessible and the most practical. It is cleaned regularly which makes it widely useable anytime.

Really friendly restaurant, that I recommend to everyone. The cuisine is strong on various tastes. Great molecular cuisine, well situated, on the way to nightlife activities. Terrace, patio, or upstairs, you can dine anywhere you like. The bill will never be too steep.
