Kitts Night Club - Chelsea

this is a brilliat place for trendy celebrity spotting, i was lucky enough to get in with a friend who is a member. trendy is the only word to describe it. it has a very carribean vibe, the whole atmosphere is very decadent and indulgent. Music is not great, just the regular dj spun house and a few rnb tunes. Drinks, are of course, riddiculously expensive but I guess your paying for being part of the 'stylish in crowd.' Quite a fun experience, but not one of my best, just a little too snooty for my taste.
Curzon Soho - Soho

This is such a brilliant cinema for those who are sick of going to Odeons and Vues and being ripped off for a fairly mediocre experience. The Curzon is a lovely independant cinema that offers their audiences those critically acclaimed, quite arty and general great films that the big cinemas seem to cast aside. Tickets aren’t exactly cheap but then neither are many cinemas these days. The Curzon actually makes you feel like it was worthwhile bothering to go to the cinema instead of just waiting to watch the dvd.
Notting Hill Carnival - Notting Hill
Notting Hill, London W11 1BW

As I have lived in this area for 10 years now, I have lived through many wonderful carnival experiences. not only is it the biggest carnival in europe (i think im right in saying that?) its also the most fun. i love the cultural togetherness that it brings. you will meet all sorts of people on the streets, dancing, drinking, eating and generally having a good time. however, i think recently the origins of the notting hill carnival have been lost slightly, and it seems to be getting worse and worse. crime is an increasing problem, people seem to use it as an excuse for getting too drunk and causing trouble. not only that, but prices have soared, even street stalls selling traditional jamaican food have upped their prices to the point of absurdity. i do love it, and stay true to it as a local, but im just not sure that its all going in the right direction. i think in the following years it definitely won’t be as good as it used to be.
Tricycle Theatre - Kilburn
269 Kilburn High Road, Kilburn, London NW6 7JR

if you are into the alternative, arty kind of cinema or theatre, then the tricylce theatre is a lovely little hotspot. its kind of grubby but has a little charm about it. tickets for most productions are cheap. i’ve seen some great less well know films here and had a really nice time.
The Blag Club Notting Hill Gate - Notting Hill
First Floor 68 Notting Hill Gate, Notting Hill, London W11 3HT

If you can get on the guestlist for the blag club, its a really nice place for a good night out. the venue is small and personal, with very classy and quite exotic decor. the music is quite chilled out, drinks are very expensive but you do get treated like a princess!
Covent Garden Market - Covent Garden
Covent Garden Market, Covent Garden, London WC2E 8RF

This is one of my favourite places in london. Not necessarily for shopping, mostly the shops and unresourseful and expensive but generally for looking around and lapping up the boho culture. if you go on the weekends, you may be mobbed by tourists but you also get to enjoy the sights and sounds of the street performers, from opera to comedy to knife throwing. the jubilee hall has some beautiful pieces of jewelry and antiques if you’re interested in that kind of thing. i mostly love to go to the waffle stall, where the waffles and ice cream are to die for!
The Prince Bonaparte - Bayswater
80 Chepstow Road, London W2 5BE
30-03-2008
This is a wonderful pub for all occasions. mainly, its great for a pint on a sunday afternoon with great hearty food. also good in the evenings, although it does get very busy, great place to bring friends for a drink before a night out or something. the service is really good, all the people are very friendly. you can get quit erowdy crowds coming in on weekend nights but generally a peaceful and enjoyable place to eat and drink
Kam Tong Restaurant - Bayswater
59 Queensway, Bayswater, London W2 4QH
30-03-2008
This is a really good traditional chinese restaurant. its huge, so there’s normally no need for booking although it does get busy on the weekends. for simple, mess free, delicious dishes, Kam tong is perfect. the service is wonderfully quick and efficient, you can order and eat within the hour.
Nyonya Restaurant - Notting Hill
2a Kensington Pk Road, Notting Hill, London W11 3BU
30-03-2008
I really love Nyonya. It promotes healthy, minimialistic and delicious style of eating. right on the corner between portobello and notting hill, its easy to find and a great place to bring friends, especially if you want to impress by seeming cultured! the food is just perfect, the portions are small but fill you up, the dumplings are just perfect. the service is efficient, maybe a little unfriendly and cold, but matches the simple and clean decor!
Chillis - Bayswater
Unit 212 Whiteleys Centre, London W2 4YJ
30-03-2008
This is a really good restaurant to bring all the family. the food is quite traditional (if slightly boring) mexican, with a wide menu to please everyone. its not very expensive at all, but then i wouldn’t expect it to be as there is nothing spectacular about it. the food is average, the service is really great and efficient, and you can enjoy a nice and stress-free meal.
