Tinseltown - Bayswater

57 Westbourne Grove, London W2 4UA

15-12-2011

An American style restaurant serving Halal food!? that seems strange but it works.

They have some really nice BBQ wings and burgers (a wide variety of them).

Highly recommended

Le Chef Masgouf Restaurant - Paddington

41 Connaught Street, London W2 2BB

12-08-2011

This is an Iraqi restaurant and the name Masgouf means the special Iraqi way that fish is grilled which is served in the restaurant. The food that I had there was good apart from a lamb shank cooked in tomatoo sauce (The first item in Iraqi specialities).

If you go there have the Seabass which is the highlight of the restaurant.

The Mango Tree - St. James's Park

40 Grosvenor Place, Belgravia, London SW1X 7AW

04-08-2011

Went there with a toptable 50% off reservation. The food was possibly as good as Thai food can go and was quite delicious and quickly served. Their non-alcoholic cocktails were very expensive but tasty. On each table you would find some prawn crackers that I didn’t like that much but I didn’t like crackers that much in the first place.

Highly recommended for the deep pocketed and for those who make the booking using toptable website.

One word of caution though for those who do book through top table. the 50% offer is for many items in the menu but not all. All the good items marked as chef’s special will have 25% discount instead.

Prices for two courses of food without discount in around 25 – 30£

The Curve - Docklands

22 Hertsmere Road, Canary Wharf, London E14 4AA

31-07-2011

Curve restaurant is the main restaurant in The West India quay Marriott. It is elongated in the shape and with high walls so it seems to be one of those places were voices never get too loud – unless the table next to you has someone celebrating their birthday!

The restaurant has a fish as its symbol but they do everything else. They have vegeterian and meat options as well.

The waiters were quite good and attentive. The most thing I liked about the restaurant and the most thing that I hated about it was the food. The food is in some way cooked to perfection. However, since everything seems to be reheated some of the flavour is lost. Scallops were soggy and oily, and my delicious salmon has a tough top because of drying.

If you ever stay at that Marriott I recommend that you give the restaurant a visit – and you should give it a visit anyway since it is where the breakfast is served. However, it is best to go there using the toptable website 50% off the food the food which brings the prices in the pricy restaurant to somewhat reasonable level.

Expect to pay around 30 per head for the food only without the discount.

Sadaf - Bayswater

27 Westbourne Grove, Bayswater, London W2 4UA

26-07-2011

Don’t be fooled by the usual emptiness of this restaurant. The food is very good and is reasonably priced. Main courses are big and are better cooked compared with the starters.

They have a lamb shank special on Fridays (and I think on Sundays) try it, it is fantastic.

Ray's Jazz Cafe At Foyles - Soho

113-119 Charing Cross Road, Soho, London WC2H 0EB

15-07-2011

Fantastic coffee and cakes but seating might be difficult as it can get croowded.

The Muffin Man - Kensington

12 Wrights Lane, London W8 6TA

15-07-2011

Went there once to try thier muffins and cakes and I had one each, both were rubbish and service was cold.

Assaggini - West End

71 Haymarket, London SW1Y 4RW

15-07-2011

Good cooking + good service + new concept + Italians in London = Assaggini !

According to a difintion I found in the web assaggini means "a selection of first courses " and this is basically what this restaurant is about. This restaurant offers a good selection of dishes that include stuff that would qualify for starters in other restaurants along with small pizzas and pastas. when you recieve your order you will have many little dishes and in someway or another I find it quite similar to the greek restaurant The real Greek

The food is of excellent quality and is served so fast that the place might qualify to a fast food outlet tag and is a great place for lunch – dinner might be okay of you order in intervals.

Expect to buy 3 – 5 dishes per person which are priced around 4 pounds each.

Simurgh - Covent Garden

17 Garrick Street, London WC2E 9AX

14-07-2011

Nice food and service although the seafood items aren’t that good.

Walima - Leicester Square

17 Irving street, London WC2H 7AU

14-07-2011

Nothing special in the food and expensive for what it offers.
