The Thai - Ealing
57 New Broadway, Ealing, London W5 5AH
02-02-2009
(atualizado em 16-11-2009)
Excellent Thai restaurant just next door to the cinema. Restaurant is decorated in a more traditional way with some beautiful wooden carvings on the wall
The menu has a great range to suit all tastes - all the usuals! The food is good quality and quantity.
Attentive staff and great service. Can get busier later on in the evening
Probably one of the better Thai restaurants in the Ealing area
Orchid Bay - Bedford
36 The Broadway, Bedford, Bedfordshire MK40 2TH
16-10-2009
Just away from the main town centre this is a great Thai restaurant in Bedford. Restaurant has seating for 40 odd and was fairly quiet when we went at 7ish on a Saturday. But by the time we left it was very popular and had a good buzz.
Good range of menu options from Set Menus of varying budgets to a la carte. All the usuals were available.
Service was prompt and efficient. Around enough top help but not get in your face.
Very enjoyable evening. Give it a go
The Long Acre - Covent Garden
1-3 Long Acre, Covent Garden, London WC2E 9LH
09-02-2009
Now the Long Acre, this was once Bar 38. Large open bar with good seating options on the ground floor and a large downstairs area. Bar serves a full range of drinks, but is not a place for a good traditional beer. Good food menu serving nibbles, the like and more if you want it.
The bar is conveniently located in the heart of Covent Garden at the top of St Martin’s Lane and Long Acre. Lots of options for food and entertainment.
The bar is a lot busier later in the day. Lunchtimes and afternoons are quiet. It is a popular bar for groups who reserve tables so beware you may have a nice comfortable place only for a “Reserved” sign to be place on the table.
Thai Pot - Covent Garden
1 Bedfordbury, Covent Garden, London WC2N 4BP
09-02-2009
Good Thai restaurant tucked away in one of the back streets of Covent Garden (very close to Charing Cross Police Station).
Refurbed a few years ago the restaurant is open and light and a combination of traditional and contemporary. When busy the restaurant can get quite loud with people talking and having fun.
Menu is quite extensive and a good range to suit all flavours. The Jungle Curry is a good choice and they can warm it up if you require it.
Service is fast and efficient, not always supportive of a relaxed quiet meal so beware. If you walk in off the street then you may have a short wait. If the wait will be longer leave your name and pop to the pub a couple of doors down.
Certainly worth a visit for you to make up your own mind
Lammas Park - Brentford
Ealing, London W13 9QD
07-02-2009
Large green area near Northfields and South Ealing. Popular with runners, walkers and those looking to relax. There are 2 areas for kids to play with a fenced area with swings, slides, climbing frames etc.
More than enough space for everyone on a popular day. There is a bowling green but have never seen people use it. Up by the Culmington Road end there are a number of tennis courts for those who want a game.
Access times vary during the year dependent on when the sunsets.
Goals Soccer Centre - Londres
Alperton Lane, London HA0 1JH
07-02-2009
Outdoor football venue near Wembley. 14 all weather pitches with rubber crumb astroturf. (You will end up with a lot of the rubber crumbs in your trainers - so be sure to empty your trainers after a game otherwise you will find small bits of rubber all over your house) There is one large pitch, more suitable for 7-a-side. Pitches are floodlit for games in the evening.
Standard format from Goals. Large changing facilities with lockers, showers and toilets. There is also a large bar area with large TVs showing Sky Sports.
Vending machines for drinks and confectionery are available in the main area.
Have a good game
Town Wharf - Londres
Swan Street, London TW7 6RS
07-02-2009
The Town Wharf overlooks the Thames and you can see The London Apprentice up the river. If you follow the Thames Path in Isleworth you are bound to find this place
The pub/bar is a good looking place split over 2 floors with 2 bars. Quite often only one is open (the upstairs). Both bars tend to open when busier and in the evening
Be aware the pub is part of the Samuel Smiths brewery. So don’t expect the usual names. But do expect cheap prices. A friend and I bought 2 pints of SS for almost the same cost as an OJ and Lemonade.
Large outside area to soak up the sun and enjoy the view.
Walking distance (1 mile or so) from Twickenham Rugby Ground if you fancy a drink after a game
Wyevale garden centre - Brentford
London TW8 8JG
07-02-2009
Garden centre in the grounds of Syon House. Great range of plants, shrubs, materials for the garden. There is a large indoor area with specific areas for gifts, pets/bird feeding, tools etc.
If you are eco friendly there is a speciality eco/green shop selling a range of products ranging from electrical to reusable nappies. Ecover lovers can fill their used bottles in an area dedicated to cleaning products and buy larger quantities.
Also drop into the coffee shop / refectory which is shared with Syon House.
Kings Fish Bar - Ealing
117 Northfield Avenue, Ealing, London W13 9QR
06-02-2009
Conveniently location on Northfield Avenue this chip shop is often busy. Shop is clean and generally tidy. Staff are helpful and willing to serve.
Range of offerings from a selection of fish, pies, burgers to kebabs. Service is quick and efficient - tell them what you want and generally you get it.
While you are waiting you can read the range of tabloids left on some of the tables. Should you feel necessary you can eat your food in the shop.
Prices are reasonable and quality is good. Drop in and see what takes your fancy
Northfields Station - Ealing
Northfield Avenue, Hanwell, London W13 9RL
05-02-2009
Northfields underground station was designed in the art deco era. Very open and as Rammi wrote “cold in winter” when the wind blows. Close to South Ealing station - you can see it from the Northfields platform. Last station on Piccadilly line in Zone 3 on the Heathrow branch. Northfields is also a depot so beware trains can abruptly stop there. Good if you live in the area, not so good if on the way to Heathrow.
There is a small shop selling newspapers, magazines, confectionery and drinks and a flower stand that has a good range of flowers, bouquets at reasonable prices. A cash machine and toilets are also available.
Station was renovated a couple of years ago and has improved train displays indicating trains on the way (not necessarily how long they will be - but then again London Underground minutes are not known to be too accurate).
