The Hairy Dog in Minehead is a great pub, if you are a family or a single person or a couple. I haven’t any children but it is great to meet friends with children where for once you actually, probably for the first time in years, get to talk to one another. This is because they have the most wonderful climbing frame/apparatus outside for children which they quite happily spend hours on, even half foregoing the food you have ordered. The food however is great with anything from bangers and mash, fish and chips to paninis. Nice place to be at lunch time, never been there in the evening so cant comment but I am sure the young people and even sports fanatics (they have sky sports on huge tellys) have a great time in the evening/night

Great family run business which has been trading for at least 50 years. Lots of the fruit and veg has been grown by the Martin family in their garden next to West Somerset Railway in Williton. They also sell local grown fruit and veg from local venues throughout the South West. They now have two shops one in Minehead which has just recently opened and one in the high street in Williton. Great shops with a vast array of fresh produce. They have a great delivery service and online order site. Staff friendly and helpful. They also sell flowers and plants and are part of interflora and send hand tied as well as traditional bouquets at great prices. At xmas they sell trees, at halloween they sell pumpkins. They cater to locals and festivals galore. Recommended.

I love Omah Shoe situated in at the bottom of Bath Place in Taunton. I always think of this shop as the seconds shop in comparison to the one in the Riverside the sister shop. However good well made shoes and although sometimes a little expensive, different and individual. The staff are friendly and helpful. The shop feels exclusive and sell makes such as Caterpilla, Doc Martin and italian designers. If you want a pair of wellies or a pair of shoes for ball, go to Omah I will be surprised if you do not find the pair you want.

This place is situated in St James Street, it is a small personal little place. The smell of this shop when you step in the door is delicious, a mixture of tobacco and sweets. I am not a smoker but tobacco before it is set alight smells like newly sawn wood to my mind. They sell lighters and ash trays. They sell cigars which range from 60p to £11/12 each. They also sell sweets in jars, which they weigh out and put in nice stripey bags, just like when you were a child. The staff are friendly and welcoming This shop is almost like a porn shop in this day and age but it is great and exclusive.

I would like to do a completely different review of the racecourse and thats in connection with the Xmas Fair which is always held a couple of days at the end /beginning of Dec. My one criticism of it is that it is never well advertised and therefore the poor stall holders lose out terribly which is such a shame as they pay so much for the privilege of peddling their wares as this event. They sell everything from pottery to toys to jams to art. They have a great little cafe which sells sandwiches andhot food and wine and coffee and of course tea. A good day out in the dry and the warm with lots of goodies to buy your loved ones for xmas

The Carew Arms at Crowcombe is a great little pub. It has a rustic flagstone floor bar at the front where the locals meet with a big roaring fire and a hatch for a bar. Dog lovers take note you can also take him/her with you too. It also has a long restaurant at the back which serves great food. Good service by the bar staff and delicious food. Very often they have theme nights or days ranging from live local bands playing blues and jazz to fireworks. Nice big garden to sit in during the summer. Prices reasonable with takeaway cider in a carton to take home at the end of a pleasant or drunken evening. Good Somerset hospitality

Family run fish and chip shop situated in St James Street Taunton. A Great smell greets your nose every lunch time and evening as you walk the length of St James Street. It is a tiny fish and chip shop which is always busy . Forget the line of people outside waiting for their dinner/tea as it is dealt with quickly and efficiently by the friendly and happy staff serving behind the counters. They sell good portions of cod and chips as well as pies and chickens and burgers and curry sauce as well as pickled onions, pickled eggs and gherkins. Reasonable prices, open lunch and evenings. Great takeaway in the centre of town.

Situated in St James Street in Taunton, Friendly family run business. Nice cozy little french atmosphere with high stools and wall counters to sit at. They sell freshly made on demand sandwiches made to your own taste with whatever bread or roll or filling you want. They cook hot beef, bacon and egg, soup, porridge, baked potatoes, salads, cakes and lots more. You can eat in or takeaway. Reasonable prices with fresh coffee. Friendly nice fun staff who recognise you by yor face as well as your regular order. Open from early morning until about 3pm every week day. Good reasonable prices with great service. Highly recommended.

A big company of solicitors with the feel of the old fashioned firm in the centre of Taunton. Can deal with anything from divorce to probate to litigation and property both commercial and residential. Nice welcoming offices with fantastic helpful friendly and knowledgeable staff. Not at all daunting to visit, shame they are moving to Blackbrook which makes them more inaccessible in the high street. Bit pricey as are all Solicitors I mean how many people can charge £130 an hour without people questioning it and thats only the juniors but if I was asked to recommend a firm of solicitors this would be it.

Situated in St James Street in Taunton. An authentic greengrocers, rustic and old fashioned. An up market version of the Eastenders fruit barrow in Somerset, meant in the best possible way. Open from around 8 to 5.30. Selling fruit and veg at great prices. Everything set out to be easily accessible and easy on the eye. Everything looks and tastes fresh. They sell apples oranges pineapples local asparagus and broccoli as well as exotic fruit and veg, fresh herbs and spices. Staff well educated about what they sell with recipes and ideas given on how to eat or cook the produce they sell. Fantastic
