Miss Cranstons - Glasgow

In a word APPALLING coffee came in a dirty cup. When pointed out to the waitress we got an elaborate story about the cups being 'marked'. Then the waitress was shown how the marks could be wiped off and the story changed but still no offer of a clean cup. Tart ordered was supposed to come with cream- unsurprisingly no cream. Upon paying, more customers were complaining about their service but instead of apologies again crazy explanations of why things weren't right.

Great little Mexican Cafe/Restaurant. Run by the same folks who used to run Salsa. Food is great. Good lunch and early evening menus as well as a la carte.

Very popular, I would always book ahead.

Sadly Sa Marina has closed and is greatly missed. Ann-Marie and Mario have opened a new restaurant in Shawlands.

Village Curry House - Glasgow

129 Nelson Street, Glasgow, Scotland G5 8DZ

The Village is a great authentic Pakistani/Indian restaurant. The food is good and very reasonably priced.

It is not situated in the most photogenic part of Glasgow but is on a major southside bus route and only 2 blocks walk south from the new (2009) Squiggly Bridge.

There are two dining rooms:

Downstairs is more cafe like with a high throughput and lots of people seeking takeways.

Upstairs (via a door adjacent to the main shop front) is a more formal restaurant with table cloths etc.

The menus in both are very similar and come from the same open kitchen in the cafe downstairs.

The village is very popular both European and Asian diners which can only be testament to the authenticity of the food. No alcohol is served in either room.

If you don't like your curry too hot, tell the waiters, I have found 'medium' dishes to be more like what I consider 'hot'.
