Cafe Turquaz - Edimburgo
119 A7, Edinburgh, Scotland EH8 9EJ
18-01-2012
Myself and a friend popped in here for a quick lunch, we were welcomed by the proprietor with a warm handshake, that doesn’t happen very often in places.
The first thing you see whern you walk in is the tempting display of cakes.
The cafe has a warm and friendly atmosphere and very relaxed and intimate setting, the decor was traditional Turkish crafts and rugs adorning the walls.
The menu was varied and interesting, with a nice choice of wraps, paninis and flatbreads, ideal for a quick lunch! To finish we had a traditional turkish coffee in the tiny cup sitting within a silver holder, and the coffee itself was served in a little copper pot with a long wooden handle which we poured ourselves.
A delightful afternoon albeit too short, with good atmosphere, good food and good coffee, oh and good company.
Osman the proprietor is a delightful host.
Salisbury Centre - Edimburgo
2 Salisbury Road, Edinburgh, Scotland EH16 5AB

I have lived in edinburgh for over 10 years now and live nearby the salisbury Centre, passed it every day on my way to and from work, but never thought of going in to see what it was all about.
The body therapist I am seeing for an injury, suggested going along and trying the Hatha Yoga sessions which would help my posture and movement.
I signed up for the classes with Aishvarya Lila on a Thursday evening and it has been so beneficial.
The centre offers so much in the way of alternative/complimentary therapies, as well as other activities such as pottery classes.
There is a nice little organic garden for relaxing in and also a library open to the public.
If you are open minded and willing to try alternative/complimentary therapies, this is a great place to come and meet a varied and interesting group of people.
Highly recommended, loose comfortable clothing is advised if participating in any of the classes such as Yoga or Tai Chi.

following a spine, hip, pelvis and leg injury, two years ago and endless hospital visits and physio, not to mention the pain, I discovered this practitioners website whilst looking for better treatment and found that he was exactly what I was looking for.
His therapies include, segment massage, integrated back and spine therapy, myofacial(soft tissue)release, deep tissue massage, shiatsu seated massage and more….
since attending his therapy sessions, my back and leg have improved significantly and my posture has improved due to the spine therapy.
there is still a long way to go but getting there.
I would highly reccommend him to anyone, requiring this kind of therapy, for posture or muscle/tissue damage.
He is highly qualified and professional, warm and welcoming, sympathetic and understanding of your needs. If you don’t need serious therapy, I would still reccommend his Shiatsu massage or classic (swedish) for just relaxation and de-stressing.
Kalpna Restaurant - Edimburgo
2-3 St Patrick Square, Edinburgh, Scotland EH8 9EZ

I went to Kalpna with a friend to try vegetarian Indian food as a break from our normal red meat nights out and was pleasantly surprised, firstly at the fact that it was a Saturday night and we managed to get a table from walking in off the street, they were very accomodating, it wasn’t as busy as expected for a Saturday night, there was a pleasant atmosphere, but a little too dimly lit for me, although the candle on the table made for a romantic ambience, I struggled to read the menu, even with my glasses on. Nonethess it was a very pleasant evening, they have a limited choice of wines from £7.99- £22, but carefully chosen to compliment the food on offer. We opted for the platter, at £16.99 which we thought was for sharing, but we ended up with one each, they looked a bit overwhelming at first, mainly because they took up every inch of space on the little table, however, the meal was delightful if not a bit confusing, as the starter, main course and dessert were all on the same platter, interesting indeed dipping a nan bread into a rice pudding, mmmm. The staff were welcoming and very pleasant. I would reccommend it for something different.

Regent Bar - Edimburgo

Great bar to visit, for a quiet drink or to meet with friends, very friendly atmosphere, staff are very friendly and welcoming, very gay friendly, dogs are welcome, as long as they are controlled, the food is simple, home made and uncomplicated.
they serve real ales and have been awarded several times in the good beer guide for real ales.
They are expanding and hopefully opening 'Cafe non de plume’ on broughton street, in the near future. (formely, cafe sala). look out for their opening in October.
Alan Joy and his wife are the most hospitable people you could ever wish to meet.
Regent is a great place to visit and I look forward to the opening of their new venture.
Kilimanjaro Coffee - Edimburgo
104 Nicolson Street, Edinburgh, Scotland EH8 9EJ

Kilimanjaro is one of the most relaxed and informal places you could ever meet someone in. I love this place soooo much, I meet my friends for coffee, lunch and general meets, it is in such a location that it is easy to locate and meet someone, especially for the first time, as I have often done.
They have recently moved from their location, to a bigger and brighter location, a few doors away from the Tesco metro on Nicholson street,I was very impressed with the move, as, although they moved to bigger and brighter premises, they never altered their beliefs or standing in the community.
They still play the ecclectic mix of french’afro, carribbean mix of music and artwork. The staff could not be any friendlier if you paid them, it is such a great place to be and relax in, and OH by the way, they have wee tickets which they stamp, so if you buy four cups of coffee, you get the fifth free.(for example).
I would highly reccomend this place for all you guys that want to meet for a coffee, have a chat, have lunch, or whatever.
I support these guys all the way, and am right behind them.
Anyone who wants to put this to the test, Hey, well just give me a shout and lets meet for a coffee and chat sometime. p.s highly recommend the hazelnut steamer mmmm
