I think the best way to describe this particular restaurant is that its an oasis in the heart of a tranquill village.Just a stone's throw from dreary Goldhawk Road Shepherd's Bush it is really worth a visit because of its unusual menu. With soft lighting, mushroomed coloured walls, polished dark tables, upholstered high backed chairs and surprisingly comfy Banquettes the atmosphere is warm and friendly.
There is a sensible compact and regularly changing menu which is driven by quality seasonal produce. Having changed hands recently the quality of the cooking has not changed at all.
When I was there a few weeks ago I had the Asparagus served with poached eggs and lemon butter, and my friend had Razor Clams with Lemon and Garlic and Parsley butter. I can describe this as a accomplished simplicity with great taste. For the main dish I chose to have the slow-roasted duck teamed up with Rosti, braised Endive and Orange Sauce. For dessert the attractively presented light and moist chocolate cake with fresh cherries and Fiorde Latte and exceptionally good coffee went down a treat. There is a varied international wine list with many bottles starting at 12.95,and a lot under 20.00 pounds.
