This is definitely one of my favourite places in Denmark! Maybe it’s not just the diversified and impressive art (mainly modern art, but not too modern ;-); bright oil paintings as well as sculptures and pencil drawings) but also the surrounding: this whole gallery is located in the old reconstructed school building of this tiny village near Nykobing and got a very special atmosphere.
Henna - a very open-minded, likable lady (she speaks German, English, Portuguese, Spanish & French!!!! ... and Danish) owns this house with the outside walls painted in different styles as every artist providing an exhibition is asked to perpetuate him/herself. There is a pretty nice garden as well where you can sit down at a bench and relax a little…

At first the interior appears just like a living room until you find out it really IS! Henna lives in this house and parts of it are used as her lounge and hallway as well as a gallery!!! The antique furniture fits perfectly to the various art works and create a unique style.

So if you’re ever in this region – try to find this small gem of creativity!
At Easter there’s always a vernissage going on so you’ll be likely to meet the current artist – usually they like talking as well! :-)

Henna sounds a very nice artistic lady!
I am very much interested in the exhibitions they have got here.

Interesting for me to read that they also live in an old schoolhouse there - like we do here in Wales.
Super review, TineE :-))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))
